Narrative Report
Disaster awareness and risk reduction are the main concern of government agencies during the
occurrence of natural calamities in our country. The Department of Education in cooperation with the
National Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) take some actions to achieve the
said goal through the conduct of drill like the earthquake drill.

Our School conducted “ 4th Quarterly Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill”, last November 05,
2018. This activity seeks to intensify and level – up earthquake preparedness of the school . It also aims to
generate the highest level of awareness among our pupils and the teachers on disaster risk reduction concerns.
Tingloy Central School through its staff and pupils answered the call for the conduct of the earthquake
drill by Mrs. Jean H. Manalo, School Science Coordinator. She shared her knowleledge on what to do
during an earthquake. At the end of the lecture and with the cooperation of the teachers, the pupils
were sent to their respective rooms with the reminder that an actual drill will be made and so necessary
precautions were instructed. Continuous ringing of the bell was heard and pupils’ reactions were
observed.

Based on the observation during and after the drill, the following problems were encountered, The pupils
were properly oriented, there were still some of them who did not take the drill seriously.

After knowing those problems the concerns gave a post drill activity to reorient pupils on their behavior
during the drill. Also gave some warnings and reminders with regard to panicking and remove the blocked
avoiding stampede in case that the real scenario.

This activity was implemented accordingly for the safety of everyone. One must believe
that prevention is better than cure. If everyone will be aware and alert, no matter how many
times we encounter several calamities, we will remain strong and confident.
