In rural areas, lack of knowledge regarding proper waste management practices are evident.
Residents often burn their wastes as a way to dispose of their garbage because most areas do not
have access to garbage trucks and spaces for trash collection and storage. What worsens it is the
growing number of plastic usage and plastic wastes which—when disposed through incineration
—poses a threat to our environment, leading to phenoma like the corruption of air, land, and water
resources. To serve as an aid in constructing ideas for eradicating or lessening the concern for
plastic wastes and its improper disposal, the study aims to percieve the effectiveness of reusing
plastic bottles regarding the waste management of Barangay Dagatan, wherein it focuses on how
the residents react on certain issues like the effectiveness of Plastic No-more Project and how it
helps in descerning proper actions to take for the benefit of both their community and the
environment.

In line with the aims of De La Salle Lipa's Capstone initiatives, Plastic No-more Project provides
a sustainable and environmental-friendly future through promoting recycling plastic wastes. In the
study, the said project's efficacy was assessed based on the insights of the respondents and
residents of Barangay Dagatan. To further explicate, Barangay Dagatan's residents have a growing
concern regarding their wastes. They burn their wastes to dispose of it and they have numerous
amounts of plastic wastes which are not thrown properly, thus being scattered in their streets or
stored in improper spaces. To resolve this concern, a project that targets reusing, recycling, and
reducing plastic wastes was devised, wherein it collects the community's plastic wastes through
gathering certain households' wastes and with the help of the community's "Bote para sa Reseta"
program—a program that collects plastic bottles in exchange for free medecine or check-ups.

In conducting the study, both quantitative and qualitative data where collected convergely,
meaning both data were collected at the same time. These data were used to develop a convergent
parallel mixed method study wherein the residents in the target locale were involved in inputting
data to affirm the efficacy of the project through survey questionnaires administered using the
simple random sampling method (thirty respondents for the quantitative data and twelve
respondents for the aualitative data). In analyzing the data, triangulation design—specifically
convergent parallel design—were used because this approach is applicable for the study for it uses
concurrent timing in comparing and relating the quantitative and qualitative data. Through using
the said research design, an in-depth and concise understanding of the research can be obtained.
In conclusion, the study was able to show the effictiveness of reusing plastic wastes, specifically
plastic bottles, regarding the waste management of Barangay Dagatan. The aims and objectives of
the project and the study—which is acquiring information about how the Plastic No-more Project
affects the anvironment and the resident's attitude towards waste managment—were reached. It is
also evident that the residents were able to acquire new information regarding proper waste
management and are willing to practice proper disposal. An interview with a respondent also
shows that incineration practices are lessening, showing the progress to success of the project.

The study was successful in proving its claims and supporting its aims. Though it was successful,
there were complications faced like lack of time management and the ample amount of local
references. Regarding the study, the researchers portrayed skills and abilty in finding pertinent
elements that would help resolve the problems and prove the efficacy of Plastic No-more Project.
The project had also imparted ecological and environmental awareness among the residents that
would fully help them in sustaining the project's process and in identifying the better choice of
waste disposal for their health, the environment and the whole community.
