1.1 General
1.1.1 Purpose / aim of the Method Statement submission:
Road marking paint will be carried as per Clauses given in the MOST and working
drawings.
This work consist of marking traffic strips using thermoplastic compound meeting the
requirements of specification.
As per the contract drawings and technical specification Clause No: 803, BOQ item
No. 9.04 & 9.05.
1.3 Surveys
Road Marking will be started after completion of necessary alignment checks for Lane /
Center Line / Edge Marking portion by supervision staff and as per designed distances
given by Engineer.
Necessary manpower and display boards will be placed to regulate the flow of traffic with
out causing and congestion or stagnation.
1.5 Materials
Thermoplastic Material
Composition
The pigment, beads and aggregate will be uniformly dispersed in the resign. The material
will be free from all skins, dirt and foreign objects and will comply with requirements
given in Table 800-3 of MOST.
d) Cracking resistance
at low temperature : The material shall no cracks on application to concrete blocks.
g) Yellowness Index : For white thermoplastic paint not more than 0.12 as per
AASHTO M 249.
Reflectorising glass beads are two types. Type 1 beads are those, which are a
constituent of the basic thermoplastic compound and Type 2 beads are those, which are
sprayed on the surface of hot paint line. The glass beads shall be transparent, colourless
and free from milkiness, dark particles and excessive air inclusions and these will confirm
to the requirements given in Table 800.4 of MOST.
Refractive Index
b) In case the paint is to be laid over cement concrete a coat of primer will be
applied on the surface for better bounding of paint with the surface.
c) The pavement temperature will not be less than 10 deg.C during application.
h) The finished lines will be free from ruggedness on sides and ends and be parallel
to the general alignment of the carriageway. The upper surface of the lines will
be level, uniform and free from streaks.
The painted marking will be measured in sq.meters of actual area marked (excluding the
gaps if any).
In respect of marking like directional arrows and lettering etc., the measurement will be
by numbers.
