Avengers: Age of Ultron

Making a successful sequel to a successful original film is a tough act to

achieve in movie making. The curse of the sequel is an all too familiar
phenomenon in Hollywood.

Making a critically acclaimed and box -office successful movie can be

both a blessing and a curse if you plan to make a sequel. Being the
flagship of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Avengers set a
spectacular cinematic act in 2012 for others in the MCU line up to
follow, and even more so for itself.

Thankfully, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: Dark World
(the latter , perhaps, to a lesser degree ) broke the jinx of the curse of the
sequel. But in doing so, they heightened both the expectation that the
sequel to the Avengers might continue the trend and surpass the original
in acclaim, and fears that it might succumb to the curse.

The wait is over and the verdict is in; Avengers: Age of Ultron over -
delivered and spectacularly so!

From the spectacular opening fight scene in the snow - covered forest of
Sokovia through the Chick-measuring exchange between Stark and Thor
and continuing through the declaration of love scene between Natasha
Romanoff and Bruce Banner in Hawkeye 's safe house and down to the
epic final battle between the expanded Avengers and Ultron and his
drones, it was a 2hour plus testosterone- fuelled and adrenaline-pumping
cinematic tour de force!
Movie making is both a science and an art. Rarely are the elements of it
successfully combined to deliver a compelling cinematic visual as was
done in Age of Ultron.
An ensemble cast (which rarely succeeds in movies ), a beautifully
written script chuck full of memorable one -liners and exchanges all
brilliantly delivered by the best acting possible in an action /super hero
movie were all masterfully woven into a wondrous cinematic tapestry
that is without a doubt destined to be the highest grossing movie of
2015.

Seeing as Age of Ultron is rumoured to be writer/director, Joss Whedon

's final movie in the MCU releases, he couldn't have chosen a more
spectacular way to blaze across the cinematic universe. Step forward and
lift the Mjolnir. You are worthy, Mr. Whedon, you are worthy!
