An approach to approximately estimate the amount of capital (in


INR crores) that would be required by Idea-Vodafone to capture
20% market share of 4G feature phones in India within the next 2
years.

Approximate no of users of 4G feature phones in India=60 million


To capture 20% of market share, Vodafone-idea will have to
generate a customer base of 12 million users.

Manufacturing of a 4G feature phone would cost around INR


2500.
The selling price would be INR 1500.

Pricing of monthly rental plans-


Vodafone prepaid plan of Rs 199 offers 1.5GB data per day with
the validity of 28 days. The plan also offers 100 SMS per day but
has calling limits. Users get 64Kbps speed once their data limit is
exhausted.
Vodafone has two other plans priced at Rs 209 and
Rs 255, under which users get 1.5GB and 2GB of daily 4G/3G data
with a validity of 28 days.

Marketing-
The phones would be available first to the people living in small
towns and villages and then to the people living in urban areas.
