Instructor/Visiting Instructor of Music

The University of Arkansas at Monticello Division of Music is seeking applicants for a ten-month, full-
time, non-tenure-track position as Instructor or Visiting Instructor of Music, beginning January 1 or
August 1, 2020.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have a range of teaching and service responsibilities that
may include Marching Banding, Music Appreciation, woodwind lessons and ensembles, Concert Band,
recruiting, and other duties deemed appropriate by the Division Chair. Active recruitment can include
activities such as band tours, hosting festivals, serving as adjudicator/clinician/guest conductor/guest
soloist and performing at conferences. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a positive
relationship with music educators in the region, including active participation in local, regional, state,
and national music organizations. Teaching load is 15 credit hours per semester. The successful
candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.

Education: An earned master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in music or a Master of Music degree
from an accredited institution is required.

Qualifications: Candidate must have at least five years of full-time experience as a music educator;
evidence of a high level of success teaching woodwind lessons; evidence of a high level of achievement
directing marching bands; the ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty,
staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds; and demonstrate
organizational and communication skills.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience including excellent fringe benefits.
