If you are asking the question, "what are hemorrhoids?

", it is likely you are

already experiencing an unwelcome visit from them.

There are two types of hemorrhoids, internal and external. If you have the internal
variety, you may be completely unaware that you have this condition until you see
blood on the toilet tissue. Your doctor should be consulted to confirm the
condition when you see blood as blood can also be an indication of cancer and
delaying the consultation could make the treatment more serious and perhaps even
fatal. The more common variety are the external type.

External hemorrhoids are well known to all who have suffered from them. As a result
of being located on the outside of the rectum, they are frequently quite painful
and you will, no doubt, be seeking immediate treatment. The news is good in the
ability to eliminate them, but not usually very pleasant.

External hemorrhoids are subject to numerous irritations as a result of their

protruding nature. The most common displays that you may be suffering from external
hemorrhoids are:

• Presence of bleeding. It is not uncommon for external hemorrhoids to itch and

bleed.

• Itching is a common symptom and as mentioned above, this can result in bleeding.
It is important to keep the area clean and dry to expedite healing.

• Pain in the area is also a problem. People often make jokes at the expense of the
hemorrhoid sufferer, but the sufferer is likely not laughing. The pain is very
intense if they become thrombosed hemorrhoids. Lumps are often noticed by the
hemorrhoid sufferer. They are often accompanied by an intense itching sensation.

How are hemorrhoids treated? There are numerous answers to this question. One is
surgery, but believe me, it is at a cost of your dignity. You will be put, naked
from the waste down, into a harness, and then turned upside down. Once in this
position, the doctor will wrap an elastic band around the protrusion, and leave it
there for a week or two until the blood supply is inhibited from the area, causing
it to die and fall off. You may be required to visit the doctor a minimum of 3
times, and perhaps considerably more if there are numerous lumps to remove, and
that is assuming there is no recurrence.

Often, Preparation H is chosen because if is an over the counter treatment. Not

great if you don't want your local pharmacist and his clients to see you walking to
the cash register with it in your hand. Venapro is my preferred method of treatment
since it is obtained via the mail, in a plain unmarked wrapper and treatment is
performed in the privacy of your own home. It is very successful for most people. I
also like the way it treats the itch too since it is so embarrassing (no pun
intended).
