Allegory of the Cave Reflection Paper

The tale “Allegory of the Cave” Plato has written, all started with the three
prisoners in a cave who could impossibly attain the truth. Since they were all facing the
wall with just images and movements of dark shadows, they fully believe that it is
already everything. Not to the extent where one of them became free from the chain’s
grip.

Plato’s deeper understanding on humanity makes him make a scenario that

shows people the real representation of an imaginary creation or nature. The cave in
the tale symbolizes the barriers or boundaries, that a person could perceive, from the
sunlight and the outside world, the reality. The chains or locks are the hesitations or the
reasons that might keep a person apart from the possibilities. The two men who were
left nor wanted to be free represents as the people who have mastered or have
memorized things that are acquired by studying investigation or observation. The
people with perseverance in seeking the truth or understanding the deeper meaning of
things and reality are like the only person in the cave who went onto the light. The
unchained man tried to explain and persuade both people, who were left in the cave,
about his discoveries on the outside world. Sadly, those people did not believe him
because his description of the reality differ from or goes against their beliefs. Though
the men did not believe him, yet he still continues on his journey on attaining the
possibilities of knowledge.

Humans as we are, together with our curious mind, we should not limit ourselves
to the things the we could possibly do just because of people’s comments and remarks
or, worst, by our own hesitation. Instead, we should go beyond the limits and look for a
deeper meaning in everything that we conceptualized and experience.
