Company Profile

History

It was former President Manuel A. Roxas who first proposed a bill in

Congress, seeking the establishment of a social security system for wage earners
and low-salaried employees. This he said on January 26,1948, during his State of
the Nation Address. On July 7,1948, after the death of President Roxas, President
Elipidio Quirino created a Social Security Commission, his first official act as a

president. This commission drafted Social Security Act that was submitted
to Congress. In 1954, Rep. Floro Crisologo, Senators Cipriano Primicias and

4
Manuel Briones introduced bills to the Congress that were eventually enacted as
Republic Act 1161, or the Social Security Act of 1954. The law was also called
the Social Security Law (SS Law).

This part of the Manual states the mandate of the Social Security System,
which is also enunciated in Section 2 of the Social Security Act of 1997 (R.A
No.8282). It further details the mission, vision, and the values espoused by the
System.

Mission

To manage sound and viable social security system, which shall promote
social justice and provide meaningful protection to members and their families
against the hazards of disability, sickness, maternity, old age, death, and other
contingencies resulting in loss of income or financial burden.

Vision

A viable social security institution providing universal and equitable social

protection through world-class service.

5
Goals

The SSS aims to institutionalize a corporate culture that instills the core
values of TRUST, EMPOWERMENT, and TEAMWORKK.

By TRUST, we mean being Competent, Honest, Ethical, Empathetic, and

Reliable (CHEER).

By Empowerment, we mean being Task-Focused, Accountable, Self-

Driven, Knowledgeable, Enthusiastic, and Decisive (TASKED).

By TEAMWORK, we mean being Collaborative, Harmonious, Adaptable,

Responsive, Motivated, and Selfless (CHARMS).

Anchored on the mission and vision statements, the following describes

the Quality Policy of the System in terms of the quality of service that we commit
to our members and their beneficiaries.

Quality Policy

SSS is committed to provide prompt, convenient, reliable and meaningful

social security protection services to our current and future members and their
beneficiaries, such as that they shall receive the benefits due them in time of
death, disability, old-age, sickness and maternity.

Organizational Structure

Work Division

In My On-The-Job training at Social Security System (SSS) Baguio, I was

assigned at the Administrative Section where I rout documents all over the whole
sections of the company. I also accommodate and authorize members/clients for
their UMID cards/I.D. for releasing and if their I.D is located at Phil-post, I will
immediately call our company’s I.D. center to claim the client’s tracking number.
At the afternoon before we will take our dismiss I will collect the feedbacks of the
clients on the drop box placed at the employee’s desk (General Information, MSS,
Tellering).

Learning

There are many learnings I have learned with my supervisors, my OJT

trainees friend and with everyone in my On-The-Job training at Social Security
System (SSS)Baguio. Some of learnings I have learned from them is helping and
assisting each other if someone needs help, respecting and greeting each other like
saying “Mabuting Araw Po Sir, Madam”, following your supervisors so you can
gain some and more knowledge at work, and many more learnings I have learned
from my supervisors and my OJT trainees friend. There are also learnings I have
learned from clients at my On-The-job training at SSS Baguio. The learnings I
have learn from the clients is like you need to assist the on filling up their form or
assisting them on their way because they are total disabled and seniors. Some
learnings I have learned from some clients are you should help them and assist
them because they don’t know what to do next in their transactions. Some I have
learned is to give back the things that clients forgotted, answering right to the
clients questions, and many more learning I have learned in my On-The-Job
