1. Bimal Jalan panel
recommends review of
Economic Capital
framework every five
years
The panel also recommended that
the accounting year of RBI, i.e.
July-June, can be brought in sync
with the fiscal year, i.e. April-
March from the next financial
year. RBI has accepted all the
recommendations of the
committee. Under the revised
framework, RBI decided to
transfer Rs. 52,637 crore to the
government.

2. Gujarat maintains top
position in Composite
Water Management Index
(CWMI)
Gujarat has topped the CWMI 2.0
released by the NITI Aayog followed
by Andhra Pradesh and Madhya
Pradesh. Among the north-eastern
and Himalayan states, Himachal
Pradesh was ranked first. The index
assesses the progress of the states
and UTs based on 9 themes divided
into 28 indicators.
3. Bus Service between
Kathmandu to Siliguri
kicks off
A bus service has started between
Kathmandu (Nepal) and Siliguri
(India). The 44-seater AC deluxe
bus will cover the 650km journey in
18 hours. This is the 11th route out
of the 13 routes approved for
operating regular bus service
between Indian and Nepal.

4. India bags four medals
at the 45 th Worldskills
Kazan 2019 competition
S Aswatha Narayana won the gold
medal in water technology while
Pranab Nutalapati won silver medal
in web technologies. Sanjoy
Pramanik and Shweta Ratanpura
bagged the bronze medal in
Jewellery and graphic design
respectively.
5. Kanchan Chaudhary
Bhattacharya, first women
DGP, passes away
India’s first women Directorate
General of Police Kanchan
Chaudhary Bhattacharya passed
away at the age of 72. She was a
1973 batch IPS officer.
