It was summer.

George invited her three cousins, Anne, Julian and Dick, to

Kirrin Cottage. George had a dog named Timothy. The four children can have fun
with each other. The three cousins disliked George’s father as he can get into very
fierce tempers. However he welcomed the trio to the cottage. When the trio
arrived, there was an unfamiliar lady unloading their belongings. Her name was
Mrs Stick, the new cook. She also kept a dog too. The next morning, after playing
and swimming down in the beach, Anne noticed a boy playing in the backyard. His
name is Edgar, Mrs Stick’s son. George doesn’t like him because he like to sing
silly songs and calling out rude names. Tim got a fight with Stinker, Mrs Stick’s
dog. This upsets Mr Quentin.

Georgina’s boat is ready. Only she has to wait for the paint to dry. While
waiting, the kids took a walk on the cliff top. George thought of going to Kirrin
Island tomorrow. When they suddenly saw smoke coming from the island,
indicating that someone was on their island. George was so mad that she decided
to immediately go to the island. But eventually the smoke disappeared and was
never to be seen again. When they got home, George was cross and got into a
fight with Edgar. Edgar told them that George’s mum is sick and was rushed into
hospital, along with her father. George burst into tears as soon she found out that
her mother is sick and that her father left her to look after her mother. Mrs Stick
is now in charge on looking after the kids.
