Since its incorporation in 1955, McDonald’s Corporation has not only become the world’s
largest quick – service restaurant organization, but has literally changed Americans’ eating habits
and increasingly the habits of non – Americans as well. On an average day, more than 46 million
people eat at one of the company’s more than 31,000 restaurants, which are located in 119
countries on six continents. About 9,000 of the restaurants are company owned and operated; the
remainder are run either by franchisees or through joint ventures with local business people.
System wide sales (which encompass total revenues from all three types of restaurants) totaled
more than $46 billion in 2003. Nine major markets – Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France,
Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States – account for 80 percent of the
restaurants and 75 percent of overall sales. The vast majority of the company’s restaurants are of
the flagship McDonald’s hamburger joint variety. Two other wholly owned chains, Boston Market
(rotisserie chicken) and Chipotle Mexican Grill (Mexican fast casual), along with Pret A Manger
(upscale prepared sandwiches), in which McDonald’s owns a 33 percent stake, account for about
1,000 of the units.

McDonald’s is the world’s leading food service organization. They build Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) since they are big company. First, the responsibility of the Government –
McDonald’s make sure that they have legal documents in every franchise store worldwide and pay
their proper and on time. Second, the responsibility to the community. Giving back to the
community is the essential part of McDonald’s heritage and values. They support the RONALD
MCDONALDS charities and their children’s program. They have many charities and children
program like feeding around the world. Also they help the disaster victims. Third, the
responsibility to the environment. In McDonald’s they seek to reduce their environmental impact
because they believe that it’s not only good for our planet but also good for their long term financial
success. They aim to use less and spend less through three area of activities: sustainable packing
and waste management, energy conservation and green restaurant design. Fourth, the
responsibility to the consumers. Whether it quick breakfast, lunch on the go or dinner with the
kids, the consumer always come to the McDonald’s because of the quality food at the great value.
McDonald’s goal to the consumer to continuing to served quality of food, cleanliness, offering
more variety of new options, serving with great taste and balancing their customers seek. Lastly,

the responsibility of their employee. McDonald’s make sure that they respect their employee in
different areas and giving them proper rights. McDonald’s offer right wages of employee in the
right working hours. Also McDonald’s make sure the safety of all their employee inside and
outside of the business.

We therefore conclude that the franchisee should have the responsibility to treat customers
fairly like other McDonald’s branches. Managers should observe the other branches on what they
do. Also employees should follow the on-going operations of a regular McDonald’s. They will
have loyal customers if they give freebies, coupons, discounts, limited promos for a specific time.
McDonald’s proves that they just not into business for profit but they also social responsible for
their government, community, environment, consumers and employees.
