You learned that animals undergo changes

from the time they are laid as eggs up to the Teacher we call it Life Cycle
time that they can reproduce.
What do we call this?

Very good!

Yesterday we discussed also the different

stages in the life cycle of a frog. The different stages in the life cycle
What are the different stages in the of a frog are: eggs, tadpole, young
life cycle of a frog? and adult frog.

Before the frog becomes adult, it

undergoes series of changes in form Teacher we call it metamorphosis
during it development, what do we
call this changes?

You learned also the two kinds of The two kinds of metamorphosis
metamorphosis. What are they? are Complete and Incomplete
metamorphosis.

What is complete metamorphosis?

Complete metamorphosis has

four stages of changes.
How about incomplete metamorphosis?

Incomplete metamorphosis has three

stages of changes.
Very good! I am glad that you still remember
our lesson we had.

Shall we start with our lesson class?

Yes teacher
2. Motivation

(The teacher calls foe representative in

each group to get something from the magic Representatives picks out something
box ) inside the magic box

What did you form after completing the

puzzle? Teacher, we formed a picture
of a butterfly!
Can you tell something about the butterfly?
It is beautiful.
What do you think made the butterfly
beautiful? The different colors of its wings
made it beautiful.

Very good! But you know what the butterfly

was once an ugly creature like the picture I
have. It undergone series of changes before
it became an adult butterfly.

What do we call again the series of changes

during the development of an animal from Teacher we call it metamorphosis.
egg to adult?

Good! Today you will study how a butterfly

develops from an egg to a beautiful flying
creature.

B. Presentation

Teacher uses a K-W-L chart

Now what are the things that you already

know about a butterfly? I’ve known that the butterfly is an insect.

What else did you know?

I’ve known that it is born
and hatched from egg.

What else?
Teacher it undergoes series of changes
before
it becomes an adult butterfly.

Very good! And what do you

want to know more about the butterfly? I want to know what kind of
metamorphosis does the life cycle of a butterfly.

What else? I want to know what are the series

of changes it undergoes or it grow
into adult butterfly.

Do we have some more?

I also want to know how was it
developed into a butterfly.

C. Exploration

Observation of each bottle containing

series of changes in the life cycle Each group take turn in observing
of a butterfly. the bottles

The teacher gives each group an activity

box with envelope with materials
to use and ask them to arrange Children sequence or arrange the
in order the life cycle of a butterfly. life cycle of a butterfly according
to what they know.

D. Exploration/ Concept Formation

Before checking the output of the children,
the teacher uses the power point presentation
in showing and discussing the lesson on the
life cycle of a butterfly.

The first stage is the egg, the butterfly lay its’

eggs on leaves of plants. Its’ eggs are small
and have different shapes. Then after five days
the egg hatches into a larva. It’s larva is called
the caterpillar. A caterpillar feeds on leaves. It
is a plant fest at this stage.

Do you know now the reason why

Butterfly lays it’s egg on leaves Teacher, because the baby caterpillar
of plants? feeds on leaves of plant.

Excellent!
After that the caterpillar sheds its’ skin for
several times and the shedding is called
molting.

After shedding its skin for several times

its becomes a pupa.
.
During the pupal stage, larva makes
cocoon around itself. The pupa seems to be
dead or inactive. At this stage changes
happens to its body. The wings, legs and
other parts of the adult butterfly develop.

Then finally the adult stage wherein the

butterfly frees itself from the cocoon and
flies away, they will mate, reproduce and
the cycle begins again.

What do we call this period in the

life of an animal from the time Teacher we call it Life Cycle.
they become fertilized egg up to
reproduction and death?

Now did you understand, and learn

Something from the power point
presentation? Yes teacher.

So let’s check whose group sequenced

correctly the life cycle of a butterfly.

E. Enhancement Activity
(#Like or Dislike Game)

The teacher ask some pupils to pick

out an egg from the leaves of plant Each pupil called pick out an egg,
and answer the question inside it. read and answer the question inside it.

F. Generalization

(Filling-up of the K-W-L Chart under

The column of Learn)

You want to know what kind of

metamorphosis is the life cycle of a I’ve learned that the life cycle of
butterfly, so what have you learned? a butterfly undergone complete
metamorphosis.
Very good!
You also want to know the series of
changes it undergo. Have you able to yes teacher. It started with egg, next
find out what are they? is larva or caterpillar, then it becomes
pupa and lastly an adult butterfly.
Now will you describe how was it
developed into a butterfly.

are small and have different shapes.
Then after five days the egg hatches into a
larva. It’s larva is called the caterpillar.
A caterpillar feeds on leaves. It is a
plant fest at this stage.
What is the next thing that happened?
Then the caterpillar sheds its’ skin for several
times and the shedding is called molting.
After shedding its skin for several times

your lesson. You did a good job today.
Give yourself a YES clap.
