1.HE MADE ROBOS TO SPEAK

Dabbala Rajagopal Reddy,popularly known as professor

Rajreddy-He was the only indian
to receive “Alan turing”award in
the field of computers which is
equal to nobel prize.He is the
doyen of IIITs which are giving
free education to thousands of
students in telugu states.He made
significant contributions to the
field of robotics.He received
“Padmabhusan” honour 15
years ago.He received many
awards,got many triumphs in his
five decades career.

His brief biography

The world was going to change completely with the device

“computer”.In his learning days,he used to talk like this.
He didn't expect that he could invent robos and made them
to learn speaking,to accomplish a doctorate from the
eminent Stanford university in the field of computer
science,to work as a chief adviser in IT field to the
american president,to achieve a great fame in international
level.He was delighted as he got this great honour though
he studied in telugu medium in a small village.His native
place was Katoor village near Srikalahasti,Chittor
district.His father Srinivas Reddy was an educated
person.His mother Pichamma was able to read books.His
grandfather was a big landlord.But they lost most of the
land by endowing and catering people.He was the fourth
person in four brothers and three sisters.Everyday they had
carnival ambience because their's was a large family.

At first,he tampered letters in sand only.At that time,slates

were not present.He used to tamper letters with his fingers
in sand dunes.He studied in his village upto his fifth
class.From sixth to tenth,he studied in Kalahasti.As he
accomplished first rank in tenth class,he got seat in Madras
“Layola”intermediate college.Upto that,he didn't wear
slippers.It was the first time he wore shoes when he went to
Madras for intermediate.As he had studied in telugu
medium upto tenth class,he struggled a lot in intermediate
in english medium.Besides this,some lectures from other
countries were there in that college.He strived to
understand their accent.After a few months,he understood
that he didn't have knowledge in any subject in
intermediate.So,he thought of learning english very
well.Gradually,he started to learn various concepts.He
passed with distinction in intermediate.Based on his
intellect and interview skills,he got seat in civil engineering
in reknowned Anna university.

2.STARTING WITH THREE HUNDRED RUPEES

SALARY

On those days,children were married at young ages.He

thought his family members would think about his marriage
after his engineering.He was scared of that.So,he decided
to join in a job.He had seen a job notification in Madras
port trust office and he went there immediately with his
certificates.He got the job as an engineer in the port
workshop.He earned a salary of three hundred rupees.It
was the first earning in his career.With two other
friends,he applied for pursuing higher studies in
Australia.He thought that his family members will refuse
studying away from our country.So he borrowed two
thousand rupees from his maternal uncle for purchasing
ticket.He thought that his uncle would not tell that in their
family but he told.But as he made all provisions to go to
Australia,his family members agreed.In that way,he
completed masters degree in civil engineering in university
of new south wales.At that time,there was only one
commerial computer in their university.Once,their head of
the department showed that to him and said that”you have
great intelect.Don't you study about the topics relating the
construction of computer”.He got zeal in computer
construction and it's working.So,after the completion of
P.G,he joined in a job in I.B.M to set foot into computer
field.Being working as an employee there,he learnt the
techniques regarding computer.

4.HE GOT THE FIRST DOCTORATE

After he learnt some topics about computer,he intended to

do P.H.D.So,he applied for it in Stanford university in
America.He thoroughly etude all the topics relating
computer at there.He determined to learn to every aspect of
computer's parts and their working.He had never thought
of only achieving a doctorate in that university.He was the
only person to get a doctorate in that university in
computer science for the first time.Later,he worked there as
an assitant professor.Later,he was married to Anuradha
belonging to Tambalapalli jamindar's family.After his
marriage,he joined as a faculty in Carnegi Melan
university in Pitsburg.His career was swerved at there
only.At that time there were only ten computers to meet the
needs of the world.After performing experiments relating
computers in that university,he thought that “Artificial
intelligence”was going to change the world.Artificial
intelligence played a vital role in the construction of robos.
So,he performed experiments in that field which subserved
to progress computer as well as robotic's field.

4.CONSTRUCTION OF ROBOTICS AGENCY

He expected that Robos would do whatever man can in the

future.The university in which he was working,got interest
in robotics and the authorities constructed an institute for
it.They invested crores of money on it and he worked as
executive and administrate director for twelve years in that
university.It had been the biggest robotics research agency
in this world.The experiments which subserved robotics
field to progress and the ones which made robos useful for
performing human operations upto space experiments were
performed under the regime of them.They made robos to
speak,to learn languages,to remember words,to respond to
commands given by words.As a recognization of my
experiments regarding Artificial intelligence,he achieved
the “ALAN TURING” award for the first time in
Asia.After the development of robotics institute,he worked
as dean in a prominent rank in school of computer
science.He founded
the organization “AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE” and then worked as a
president there.

5.ROBOS FOR COMMON PEOPLE

When Bill qlintan was the president of America,he worked

as a co-chairman to his IT advising committee.France
government believed that when Information Technology
subserves poor and common people,a country's
development would be possible.It established an agency
which is useful for developing technology for poor and
common people.They experimented under the control of
many experienced scientists.He worked as a chief scientist
in that project.Gradually,their project gave good
results.They invented computers of less worth and they
made them available to the african students.We led the
foundation so that robos were useful for
medicine,prevention of road accidents,to recognize natural
calamities.For his contributions,he received the honorary
“LIZIAN OF HONOUR” award from the France president
Mittarand.

6.ESTABLISHMENT OF IIITs

When he was in America,Chandra babu sir called him and
said that “can he work as a president of reagency of IIITs
in our state”.He simply refused as he couldn't find time to
do that.The next day he phoned to him and prevailed him to
work as IIIT chairman.He intended to train students
relating IT.Gradually,computer education was made
available to the village students.He visited many
countries.He worked with great scientists.He embodied
various languages for robos.He collobarated in various
important inventions.His great journey's foundation was
led on his native village only.As he studied telugu medium
in his school education,it was made easier for him to
deceive subjects in higher studies.As he was in a profession
which didn't allow him to spend time on some other
thing,he forgot his view on his village.His wife took care of
that.He reconstructed the school building in which he
studied.
7.HIS WORDS

I like Bartruhari's poem “oka cho nelanu

pavvalinchu............” very much.An ambitious man who
aspires success in life learns to adjust to any situation.He is
to able to sleep with no discomfort on a hard floor and can
just as well sleep on a luxirious bed.He can enjoy a rich
feast or survive on roots and tubers.He wears expensive
clothes if he has them or is equally content wearing simple
rough garments.Comfort and discomfort make very little
difference to a man who is determined to achieve his goals
in life. We should treat success and failure on the same
wavelength.With this motivation,I bounced back many times
when I failed in my career.There is no retirement for my
life.I don't want to waste even a single second in my life.At
present,I am working for a project “UNIVERSAL
DIGITAL LIBRARY”.My ambition is to make lakhs of
significant books written by many worldwide authors
available to common people.Though my residence is in
America,I use to visit Bangalore for seeing my brothers and
sisters and I often visit Hyderabad as I am the chancellor
of RGUKT.I haven't seen a movie for fifty years.Upto my
last breath,I want to impart my experience to this world.
