Narrative Report on 3rd National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

August 8, 2019

Indahag Elementary School participated the quarterly Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake

Drill (NSED) last August 8, 2019 at 2pm.

Before the proper drill started, the school principal, Mrs. Jinnefer D. Espina and the SDRRMC
team had a meeting on the plans that are needed to do in the drill. The team made a plan to make
an evacuation map, to create the SDRRMC team, to prepare for sdrrmc signage and the
preparation for rescue. Each team had their own responsibilities to do for the earthquake drill.
All of these were made with patience, cooperation and understanding.

When the BFP personnel from Nazareth arrived, the coordinator with the site security team
started to sound/ring over the campus. The pupils, teachers, and parents performed the duck,
cover and hold and immediately hid under their desks. As the 1 minute alarm over, everyone in
the building evacuated and proceeded to the designated evacuation area. All the teams from the
first aid to transportation team prepared themselves for the rescue scenario.

After the drill, all the teachers with the school principal went to the covered court to listen to a
feedback from the BFP personnel. According to them, there were only few problems they have
seen during the drill. So far, IES was the only school that preparation could be seen. The result of
the evaluation was outstanding.

The drill participants were 810. The drill lasted for 15 minutes.

Finally, it was indeed a success. Preparedness and mitigation are key strategies in reducing
disaster risk.

Below are the proofs of the said drill.

The above scenario shows that the rescuer immediately sent the victim to the medics.
This time, the 2 victims sent off to the nearest hospital. The second photo is the school risk
reduction and management team. Kudos to all!

This is during the fire drill. All the team leaders and members showed up their responsibility.

The school principal thanked the BFP personnel for assisting the teachers in the said drill. She
also asked every team leader to say something about what happened during and after the drill.
