pāśāṅkuśa dhanurvāṇa-bhāsvatpāṇi catuṣṭayām ।

raktatrinetra trayāṃ svarṇa mukuṭodbhāsi candrikām ॥ 2 ॥

उद्यत्सूयज सहस्राभाां परनोन्नतपयोधराम् ।

रक्तमालाम्बरालेप रक्तभूषण भूमषताम् ॥ १ ॥

पाशाङ्कुश धनुवाज ण-भास्वत्पामण चतुष्टयाम् ।

रक्तमत्रनेत्र त्रयाां स्वणज मुकुटोद्भामस चन्द्रिकाम् ॥ २ ॥

Meaning - Let us meditate on the Divine Mother Lalita devi, who is resplendent like a thousand

rising suns and is adorned with a well formed body and a wide chest. She is the Sustainer of all

the Creation. She is adorned with a red garland of roses and red flowers and has red ornaments

all over Her body giving Her a dazzling appearance. She is holding a rope (pāśa) that pulls in all

lost souls, an elephant goad (aṅkuśa) that can calm the roguest of karmas, a bow (dhanur) and

arrows (vāṇa) that can reach their target with great precision. Her four hands are luminous and

dazzling with great light emanating from Her. She has three eyes (activated ājñā cakra) that are

red in color and She is wearing a dazzling golden crown, adorned with a moon as a diadem.

Meaning:- To fulfill our wish of reciting the ṣoḍhānyāsa, that is a part (aṅga) of śrī vidyā, who’s

preceptor (ṛṣiḥ) is Dakṣiṇāmūrti. The meter or chandas is Gāyatrī. The deity associated with this

mantra is Śrī mātṛkā graha-rūpiṇī sundarī (One who governs all the deities associated with the

Sanskrit letters that govern the guṇas or qualities such as sattva (gentle), rajas (passion) and

tamas (violent) manifested in the form of graha-s or heavenly bodies such as the sun, moon,

planets and the intersection points of the Earth and Moon’s orbit (dragon’s head and tail).

Meaning:- Salutations to the Sun god Sūrya, who shines forth resplendently in crimson red, the

moon god Candra in white, Mars (Aṅgāraka/Maṅgala) in red, Mercury (Budha) in purple, Jupiter

(Bṛhaspati) in yellow, Venus (Śukra) in pale white, Saturn (Śani) in dark purple, Dragon’s head –

Rāhu in smoky gray and Ketu in dark gray. All of whom revolve around the Sun. Lord Sūrya is

resplendent with all types of ornaments and appears with His left hand resting on His left thigh

enhancing His supreme authority and also displays the wish granting varada mudra from his

right hand.

mātṛkā-s, in order to obtain all our material and spiritual desires and progress in the path of self-
realization and attain liberation.

Meaning:- To fulfill our wish of reciting the ṣoḍhānyāsa, that is a part (aṅga) of śrī vidyā, who’s

preceptor (ṛṣiḥ) is Dakṣiṇāmūrti. The meter or chandas is Gāyatrī. The deity associated with this

mantra is Śrī mātṛkā nakṣatra rūpiṇī sundarī (One who governs all the deities associated with the

Sanskrit letters that govern the guṇas or qualities such as sattva (gentle), rajas (passion) and

tamas (violent) manifested in the form of nakṣatra-s or asterisms/constellations such as Aśvini,

Bharini etc spanning the twelve signs of the zodiac.

the great fire at the time of the Creation of the universe (Big bang). Starting from the most

Part 4. yoginīmātṛkā nyāsaḥ (योवगनीमातृ का न्यासः)


This nyāsa is for obtaining the grace of all yoginī-s (mystical angels) manifested in the body
cakra-s, fused with the powers of the mātṛkā-s, in order to obtain all our material and spiritual
desires and progress in the path of self-realization and attain liberation. There are separate nyāsa-
s for each yogini that are recommended to energize the cakra-s and regulate the flow of the
kuṇḍalini in our body.

Viniyogaḥ (विवनयोगः) -

yoginī mātṛkā mantrasya ।

dakṣiṇāmūrtiḥ ṛṣiḥ ।

gāyatrī chandaḥ ।

yoginī rūpā śrī sundarī devata ।

śrīvidyāṅgatvena nyāse viniyogaḥ ॥

योमगनर मातृका मन्त्रस्य ।

दमक्षणामूमतजौः ऋमषौः ।

गायत्रर छन्दौः ।

योमगनर रूपा श्र सुन्दरर दे वत ।

Meaning:- To fulfill our wish of reciting the ṣoḍhānyāsa, that is a part (aṅga) of śrī vidyā, who’s
preceptor (ṛṣiḥ) is Dakṣiṇāmūrti. The meter or chandas is Gāyatrī. The deity associated with this
mantra is Śrī mātṛkā yoginī Rūpā Sundarī (One who governs all the deities associated with the
Sanskrit letters that govern the guṇas or qualities such as sattva (gentle), rajas (passion) and
tamas (violent) manifested in the form of Yogini-s, mystical fairies with magical powers, who
are also attendants of the Divine Mother Lalitā devi.

Meaning:- Let us meditate upon the Divine angels - Yoginī-s, who range in complexion from
bright to dark like the waxing and waning phases of the moon and crimon red like the sun, as
well as shades of brown, clear bright and yellow. They are four armed with similar facial features
and are bedecked with precious ornaments of all types and hues.

extremely frightful in appearance, come to us and provide complete protection and entice the
eternal Truth to pervade our mind and consciousness. May our mind become still and quaint.
May the bīja-s aim̐, hum̐, hum̐ repeated twice, provide knowledge and protect us from all sides.
May the duality destroying Divine Mother Cāmuṇḍa devi come closer to us and provide us the
knowledge leading to self-realization and liberation. The bīja-s ḍaralakasa and haim̐, represented
by the seven yoginis - Ḍākini, Rākini, Lākini, Kākini, Sākini, Hākini and Yākini, provide control
over our emotions, cleanse our karmas and lead us to self-realization and liberation. May the
Divine Mother Śrī mahātripurasundari devi who is the dynamic super-consciousness pardon our

Salutations to Indrāṇi devi, who represents the power of
overcoming jealousy, passion and wrath. She is the grantor
3 im̐ indrāṇyai namaḥ इँ इिाण्यै नमौः of all wishes and bestows enjoyment and liberation to the
devotee. She is the iccha śakti and represents all the wishes.
Salutations to Īśāni devi, who signifies the richness of divine
perfection and is the Kāmakalā and Turiyā bīja. She is the

and dynamic aspects of the super-consciousness.
Salutations to Umā devi, who signifies great power and
strength, as well as tender motherly love, care and unstinted
devotion. She is destroyer of all evil and is fiercely

the four coveted desires – virtue (dharma), wealth and
prosperity (artha), worldly desires (kāma) and finally
liberation (mokṣa).
Salutations to Ūrdhvakeśī devi, who signifies great
ūm̐ ūrdhvakeśinyai ऊँ ऊर्ध्वजकेमशन्यै excellence and greatness. Literally, She signifies the hair’s

namaḥ नमौः end, meaning the epitome of power. Spiritually, the bīja is
associated with the rise of the Kuṇḍalini energy.
Salutations to Ṛddhidāyī devi, who is the goddess of
7 ṛm̐ ṛddhidāyai namaḥ ऋँ ऋन्द्रद्धदायै नमौः everlasting Truth. She represents revelation and true dharma
(virtues), as well as pure bliss.
Salutations to Ṝkārā devi, who represents the mindless state
of consciousness. The realization of one’s own true self,

is the blissful void in a state of perfect stability.
Salutations to Ekapadā devi, who represents all the triads
that make up the Creation, such as the śakti-s (powers) icchā

Salutations to Oṃkārā devi, who represents the ever pure
word and is simply consciousness descended in the form of

Super-consciousness.

Salutations to Aṃbikā devi, who is the universal mother of
the entire Creation. She is the unblemished one and signifies

bindu (dot), the singular reality and is also a representation
of the fulfillment of all desires.
Salutations to Aḥkṣarā devi, who is the constant, eternal and
unalterable reality. She is the unborn Brahman or super-

Meaning:- Salutations to the yogini Ḍākinī devi, who is located in the well of the throat as the
sixteen petalled lotus – viśuddha cakra, bearing each of the Sanskrit vowel mātṛkā-s on each of
the petals. She is red in complexion and terrific in appearance. She is three-eyed (awakened ājñā
– third eye cakra) each of which, are emitting lightning rays showing the path to the Divinity in

all the three realms. She is holding a club with a skull at the top representing the kuṇḍalini
awakening, a skull cup filled with blood representing the brain as well as Her association with
the act of Creation, a trident representing the triads manifested in the entire Creation. She wears
the skin of all living beings representing the skin of all beings. She is also holding a sword and a
shield to slash the ego and protect against all negative influences. She is single headed signifying
the approach to non-duality. She invokes fear in all those who have animalistic behavioral
tendencies. She is fond of sweet rice puddings. She resides in us in the form of skin and also
represents the ether (ākāśa) element. She also permeates the nectar that can be experienced in
deep meditation caused by the cerebral fluids. Salutations to the wonderful Yogini Ḍākinī devi,
on whom we meditate for the activation of the throat cakra. She should be meditated upon with
all the surrounding mātṛkā śaktī-s with their weapons, in the sixteen petals of the viśuddha cakra.

Ḍākinī devi also represents the embryo formation with the trident indicating the sperm and ova
coming together and the infusion of the consciousness. She being the ether element, is also
indicative of the viśuddha cakra being the bridge between the gross elements representing lower
cakras and the subtle cakras above.

Khaṭvāṅga also represents letters such as ‘kha’, ‘cha’ etc. The throat viśuddha cakra represents
complete cleansing and excellence in speech.

Part 4(b) Rākinī – (anāhata cakre) [रावकनी – (अनाहत चक्रे)]

The below Rākinī mantra should be recited with the focus on the heart (anāhata) cakra –

Meaning - The bīja mantras aim̐, hrīm̐ and śrīm̐ provide knowledge, power, status, elevation
and abundant wealth. Likewise, the bīja mantras rām̐, rīm̐ and rūm̐, provide destruction of all
negativities, cleansing the soul, attraction of positivity, gaining of spiritual awareness, control
over all senses and protection from all negative influences, as well as vāk siddhi, a magical
power that makes words come true. The bīja-s ramalavarayūm̐ represent control over all natural
elements and a mighty resolve to dispel all karmas and ascend spiritually, with the blessings of
the Divine Yogini Rākinī devi. May the Divine Mother Yogini Rākinī devi, who is extremely
frightful in appearance, come to us and provide complete protection and entice the eternal Truth
to pervade our mind and consciousness. May our blood be infused and recharged with the zeal to
pursue our goals and ascend spiritually. May the bīja-s aim̐, hrīm̐ and saḥ, provide knowledge,
enhance our spiritual pursuits and increase compassion in us. May the duality destroying Divine
Mother Cāmuṇḍa devi come closer to us and provide us the knowledge leading to self-realization
and liberation. The bīja-s ḍaralakasa and haim̐, represented by the seven yoginis - Ḍākini,

to liberation. The bīja-s kam̐, kham̐, gam̐, gham̐, ṅam̐, cam̐, cham̐, jam̐, jham̐, ñam̐, ṭam̐ and ṭham̐
grant us the discerning knowledge to free us from all karmas, detachment from all triads, relieve
us of all evil thoughts and influences, balance our material and spiritual aspirations, grant us
composure, contentment, removal of all impurities and establish our identity with the Supreme
Self. Salutations to the Divine Mother Yogini Rākini devi, who rules the heart anāhata cakra and
may all the mātṛkā bīja-s from kam̐ to ṭham̐, be meditated upon on all the twelve petals of the
lotus associated with the heart cakra. Salutations to the Divine Yogini Rākini devi. May She
energize our heart cakra, infuse immense compassion, rejuvenate our zeal and spiritual appetite
and lead us to salvation. Salutations to the holy feet of the Divine Mother Śrī Mahātripurasundari

petals. She is dark green in complexion and terrific in appearance. She is two headed signifying
the duality of nature and leading the path to Divinity. She has wide teeth resembling the tusks of
a boar, that signify great support as well as the power to devour through all negativity and fill us
with compassion in the heart cakra. She is holding an axe to cut through our ego, a spear to
awaken the cakras, a skull cup filled with blood representing the brain as well as Her association
with the act of Creation, a drum to manifest all the sounds and letters to the entire Creation. She
is three-eyed (awakened ājñā – third eye cakra). She pervades the bloodstream in all beings. She
is surrounded by the mātṛkā śaktī-s from Kālarātri to Ṭhaṅkāriṇī devi in the twelve petalled lotus
represented by the bīja-s kam̐ to ṭham̐. She entices Her devotees and infuses compassion in them
and also represents the air (vāyu) element. She leads us to the highest meditate state of bliss,
called turīya and makes us great warriors (mahāvīra). Salutations to the wonderful Yogini Rākinī
devi, on whom we meditate for the activation of the heart cakra. She should be meditated upon
with all the surrounding mātṛkā śaktī-s with their weapons, in the twelve petals of the anāhata
cakra.

She is to be meditated upon as surrounded by Kālarātri and other mātṛkā śaktī-s, each of whom
having two hands and holding two weapons, consisting of – a skull representing the brain, the
wish granting and fear allaying mudras, a book and the garland of letters of the Sanskrit alphabet,
representing all the mātṛkā śaktī-s and the knowledge associated with them, a bell representing
the clarion call for worship, as well as all the sounds occurring in the universe, a sword to slash
the ego, an elephant goad to beat the stubborn karmas to submission, a shield to bar all negative
influences, an axe to break the duality prevalent in us, the wish granting and fear allaying
mudras, a deer representing swiftness in Her action, a trident representing all the triads, a drum
sending out the sacred notes of the mātṛkā śaktī-s, a banner announcing Her arrival, a bowl

representing the entire Creation and its Sustenance, a spear to invoke the cakras, a spirit
representing Her subtle form and the wish granting and fear allaying mudras.

Part 5 Rāśimātṛkā nyāsaḥ (रावशमातृका न्यासः) -

This nyāsa is for obtaining the grace of all rāśi-s (zodiac signs), fused with the powers of the
mātṛkā-s, in order to obtain all our material and spiritual desires and progress in the path of self-
realization and attain liberation.

viniyogaḥ (विवनयोगः) -

asya śrī rāśimātṛkā nyāsa mantrasya ।

dakṣiṇāmūrti ṛṣiḥ ।

gāyatrī chandaḥ ।

rāśi rūpā śrī sundarī devatā ।

śrī vidyāṅgatvena nyāse viniyogaḥ ॥

Meaning:- To fulfill our wish of reciting the ṣoḍhānyāsa, that is a part (aṅga) of śrī vidyā, who’s
preceptor (ṛṣiḥ) is Dakṣiṇāmūrti. The meter or chandas is Gāyatrī. The deity associated with this
mantra is Śrī mātṛkā rāśi rūpā śrī sundarī (One who governs all the deities associated with the
Sanskrit letters that govern the guṇas or qualities such as sattva (gentle), rajas (passion) and
tamas (violent) manifested in the form of rāśi-s, houses of the zodiac.
