CIS100 Computer Skills – Chapter 5 Assignment
This assignment is for your own reference and practice. It should be done in the lab or
any other computer device to improve your skills in MS PowerPoint. This assignment
covers the essential practices usually needed to efficiently manage your work in
making presentations. If you do this assignment correctly, then it will be easier for you
to pass your quiz and exam. (But pay attention to other parts of the chapter, like the
concepts and ideas, it does counts in the exam!)

Create a New Presentation


1. Open PowerPoint 2013
2. Have a through look on the different parts of the program (ribbon, tabs, view styles,
zooming, different panes and buttons)
3. The presentation opens in the normal view. A Title slide is created for you by default
4. Use Ctrl + M to add 3 more slides. (note the layout for these slides)
5. Click on the top slide (Title slide) in the slide pane (to the left).
6. Write “Chapters” in the Title box, and “CIS100” in the Subtitle box.
7. Click on Slide number 2 in the slide pane. Change the layout of this slide to Title only. Write
“Content!” in the Title box.
8. Click on Slide 3 in the left window. Change the layout of this slide to Two Content
9. make a bulleted list in the left textbox as:
• Chapter4
• Chapter 5
10. Put a bulleted list in the right textbox:
• Chapter 1
• Chapter 2

11. Click on Slide 4 Put a picture in the presentation and include some text describing the
picture in the notes pane.

View options
1. Click on the Slide Sorter icon.
2. Press Ctrl + A if you want to select all of the slides at the same time.
3. Click and drag Slide 2 to the right to make it the last slide in the sequence. Now move it
back.
4. Click on the Slide 4 and press Ctrl + D to make a copy of the slide. Move the copy
into the second slot in the sequence. Now delete it.
5. Get back to Normal View, and in the Notes area beneath the main window type
“This is the title slide.”
Formatting

1. Select the Title Slide. Change Design Theme to Feathered.


2. Click anywhere in the Title textbox. On the Home tab, select a style from the Quick Style
icon in the Drawing group.
3. Change the background of the slides to a picture of your choice.

Work with Action buttons


1. Add a fifth slide. Make its layout Title and Content. Put Action Buttons in the content box.
2. Create a link to www.just.edu.jo.
3. Right click on the shape and chose Edit Text. Add the word JUST to the shape.

Automatic Slide Transitions


4. Go to Slide Sorter View. Press Ctrl + A to select all of the slides. On the Transitions tab,
Transitions To This Slide group, select wipe left transition.
5. Add a different transition effect to each slide.

Animations
1. On the Animations tab click on the Add Animation icon. Try different spin emphasis,
animation effects.
2. Press Shift + F5 to run the show from this slide. Did the animation effects work?
3. Press Escape to end the presentation.

Run the presentation


1. Click on the Slide Show icon or press F5 to run the show.
2. Move between slides.
3. Exit the presentation using Escape key.
