CAPRISA Rules and Guidelines
General Rules:
Ground Rules:
1. The audience is requested to turn off all pagers, cellular phones and other
gadgets /nuisance.
2. No applause is allowed in between the delivery. It is only allowed after the
delivery of each contestants in each event.
3. Trainers, coaches and coordinators should stay at the designated are
provided for them; such areas off limit to non-participants.
4. Only the education coordinator of the competing school is allowed to be with
the contestants at the backstage. Make-up artist/s and production
assistant/s are not allowed to be with the contestants.
5. Only the designated technical committee member is allowed to fix/arrange
the microphone before the contest proper.
6. Only the person in-charge is allowed to fix the audio before the contest
starts.
7. Only the person in-charge is allowed to fix/arrange the mic and mic stand
before each performances.
1. The topic will be announced on the spot, a few minutes before the contest
starts.
2. The essay must be written in English, must not be less than two hundred
(200) words and not to exceed four hundred (400) words.
3. The participant should provide a title for his/her work.
4. The time limit of one hour (1) hour is given.

IV. NEWS WRITING, FEATURE WRITING, and EDITORIAL WRITING (Elem. &
Sec.)
1. The topic shall be announced one (1) hour before the contest starts.
2. The write-up must be written in English and must not be less than three
hundred (300) words and not to exceed five hundred (500) words for Feature
and Editorial Writing and a minimum of ninety (90) words for the News
Writing.
3. The participant should provide a title for feature and editorial writing, and a
headline for news writing.
4. Write-ups must adhere to the technically used in journalistic writing.
5. A time limit of one (1) hour is strictly imposed.
6. Criteria:
a. Content/Message (Originality) 30%
b. Adherence to Journalistic Writing 30%
c. Language Use 20%
d. Diction (Choice of Words) 15%
e. Overall Impact 5%
