1 Prerequists

You need to understand SAP tes ng terminologies. This documenta on provides an overview of what all ac vi es are involved
in SAP BW tes ng. To understand SAP BW from tes ng perspec ve major prerequisite is to understand SAP tes ng and SAP
BW.

1.1        Purpose of SAP Tes ng:

During the en re life cycle of a SAP solu on, it is necessary to test the func ons and performance of your solu on. With the
SAP Test Workbench, SAP provides you with an environment for all test phases, which you can use for tes ng in the following

Implementa on of SAP solu ons

Integra on of new components and business scenarios
Customer developments
Func on tests
Integra on tests with other components
Upgrades, regression tests
Understanding SAP solu on with the help of ini al documenta on and requirement specifica on.
Crea on of manual and/or automated test cases
Management of manual and/or automated test cases
Crea on of test plans
Defini on and management of test series
Execu on of test cases and record the results of these execu ons using the some tes ng tool such as HP QC, HP ALM, etc.
Records the issues found in the above men oned tools.
Track these issues and get these resolved or get them processed further.
Link these test cases to the requirements (good for tracking purpose)
Permanent overview of test progress and test results
Complete documenta on of test processes in the test plans (test cases, test case descrip ons, test results, test case notes,
error messages)
Detailed tabular and graphical evalua on of all test plans

1.3        Case Study for Reference

1.3.1 Client Informa on:

Client is a major Bri sh Financial Ins tu on and deals majorly in – Wholesale, Retail Banking, Investment Banking, Asset
Management, Wealth Management etc. It has presence across the globe (UK, US, Europe, Asia, Middle East) to service the
needs of Customers & Clients.

1.3.2 Project XXXX:

This project consists of a GL solu on implemented in BW with the help of 3 Special ledger Data sources from ECC. This is a SAP
tes ng project with BW integra on with BO and BFC via FIM, BOEA. We have to perform Tes ng for ECC integra on with BW,
SAP BW (LSA), BOEA, SAP BW Repor ng objects, BEx objects.
