INTRODUCTION
Good morning everyone my name is Avalon Harry and I am a second year nursing student at
Costaatt. It a great privilege to be here this morning I am here to educate everyone about
Gonorrhea. I will start my session be defining the term Gonorrhea, stating it how it is contracted,
I will go on to identify the causative agent and list some symptoms associated with Gonorrhea
and further explain the treatment of the disease and how contracting this disease can be
prevented. This is a topic of great importance and I hope that everyone learns from this session.
Objectives:
sometimes referred to as the clap. Gonorrhea is characterized by thick discharge from the
penis or vagina.
Gonorrhea spreads through semen or vaginal fluids during unprotected sexual contact,
o touching parts of the body with fingers (for example, touching the private parts
o the bacteria can be passed from hand to hand (very rare isolated cases)
o strong smelling vaginal discharge that may be thin & watery or thick &
yellow/green
o white, yellow or green thick discharge from the tip of the penis
activity until the infection is cured and to treat all sexual partners, even if they have no
symptoms.
Preventive measures include abstaining from sexual activity or having sex only within a
another sexually transmitted disease. Latex condoms also provide some protection when
used properly
How is it treated?
