Abstract

Multilanguage translator goal is to develop a set of tools for translating text between multiple
languages in high quality. The system is able to automatically translate such sentences from any
language into target language example: English to Hindi. A translator can synthesize a person which
type a text and convert it in to the language which he/she wants to convert. Through our project user
is able to input any language manually in text form or in speech as input, and translator show output
as translated speech or text as per user required. Multilanguage translator provides an online and
offline way of solving the problem faced by public in understanding different language. Our main
objective is to give comfort to people in understanding any type of language and also convert it into
any type of language.

Introduction

In this era, global interaction are increasing day by day and communications between different
nations are done and in different languages as well. No person knows all the languages and scripts.
To overcome this barrier of language, translation is one very important tool.
The process of converting text into different languages without changing its meaning is done by
Multilanguage translator. Multilanguage translator system is an automatic system for translating text
from one language to another language without human intervention. They play an important role in
the field of entertainment, sports, education, offices, tourism, communication, medical, information
technology, research, etc. few real time examples where Multilanguage translator plays a very
important role are cross-language question-answering, Multilanguage chat session, e-mail and
website translations. The above stated are just a few of the modern applications of the commercial
world.
There are some words that do not need to be translated as they remain the same in all the languages
like name of person, place, medicines, terms used in sports. These entities are known as “Named
Entities” and remain the same whatever be the language and conserve their phonetics.
The process of converting any word from one language to another without changing its pronunciation
and phonetics is known as Transliteration. In translation transliteration is used for named entities. It is
the process of transcribing one character or letter or alphabet of one language to the other language.

Literature survey

[T.Rama 2009] – In this paper, authors considered transliteration as a phrase based translation
problem for English to Hindi transliteration and used Moses and Giza++.
[V.Goyal 2009] – In this paper author presented a rule based approach for translation from Hindi to
Punjabi. With the character level mapping of Hindi and Punjabi the authors define approximately 55
rules for translation and got an accuracy of 98%.
Text to speech by D.sasirekha and E.chandra of Coimbatore, India has two main goals; the first goal
is to summarize the published literatures on Text to Speech, with discussing about the efforts taken in
each paper. The second goal is to describe specific tasks concentrated during Text to Speech
conversion namely, pre-processing and text detection, linearization, Text normalization. They
illustrate this topic by describing Text to Speech (TTS) synthesis because you all know people in
daily life face many problems due to difference in their script system. There are many text to speech
systems (TTS) available in the market and also much improvisation is going on in the research are to
make this speech more effective, natural with stress and emotions.
In the paper of P.Pingali, 2006 Multilanguage retrieval from Hindi and Telugu to English language
was done with translations. Authors also used transliteration for proper names and non-dictionary
words. They used phoneme mapping, metaphone algorithm.
The past research work will be on translator from English to any type of language and from. A
translator system from languages like English and Hindi to any type of language will be very useful
for Multilanguage information retrieval, translation, in studying the pronunciation of any type of
language words for those who can understand English, Hindi and any type of language.
