Ethereal Tattoo Reiki

by Stewart Farquharson
Sak Yant

Most people know that the famous actress and UN representative Angelina
Jolie went to Thailand to get a lucky Asian tattoo.

These tattoos use the magical letters and diagrams from buddhist and
hindu traditions which have mingled in southeast asia. Sak means press and
yantra means magical diagram.

Muay Thai kickboxers use these to give

strength, luck, and fierceness. Artists use
them for attracting attention, creativity
and good business. Police and soldiers use
them for protection and courage.

The tattoo artists are often monks or

forest hermits who get inspiration from
nature and spirits.

They request you to abstain from bad

behaviour so the tattoo can bless you.

In reiki we can use solid things from the

real world such as crystals, or intangible
versions, such as 'ethereal” crystals. So
why not use ethereal tattoos?

We can infuse reiki healing energy into an imaginary drawing on the skin,
and tell it to last for a few weeks. We can energize real tattoos or designs
on cloth. It's all good.
Some Famous Designs
Gao Yord (nine towers)

This links you to the spiritual lineage of a

wise teacher, of your choice. Wiggly lines
reaching up to be straight show how we
overcome being tossed by desires. Little
ovals which look like squashed snowmen
are symbols of Buddha, and sources of peace and enlightenment. The script
is usually from ancient times.

Ha Thaew (five lines)

Usually worn on the left shoulder of

the back, each line gives good luck or
protection. The last makes you an
attractive personality.

Paed Tidt (8 directions)

Protects in all directions, helps you navigate

and is very good for drivers. This is on cloth
which is allowed, and traditional. So shirts are
okay. Don't wear an image of Buddha lower
than your waist, however. Five faces also make
a protection and was the design for the title
page photo in this manual.
Animals are quite popular. A tiger looking over
its shoulder means it is guarding your back.

Monkeys stand for faithfulness and bravery

since the monkey god of India, called
Hanuman, accompanied the hero Ram as he
struggled to free his lover Sita from the
demon king.

Butterflies, turtles, dragons, crocodiles are

often seen in sak yant.

In this man's tattoo you can see the Nine

Towers, the monkey hero, the face of a wise
forest sage, and a guardian knot.

Some fighters get the top of their heads

tattooed with a sort of round flower like the
drawings from India.

A holy drawing from India, with petals holding

seed sound letters.
Diamond Armor

This design will protect you.

Ongk Phra (Buddha body)

It gives spiritual guidance and calm life, and

is often given to tourists. Must be worn
above the waist. In Thailand the head is the
most sacred part of the body, the feet the
least. It's why you don't touch strangers on
the head. :)

Lucky Gecko lizards are not worn on the skin but on

cloth or metal amulets in a place of business.
 you are always surrounded by initiations, from nature
and Spirit.
 to respect something is to make it sacred, including
yourself.
 step back from the world, and it will bring all things to
you.

Conclusion
You may attune a student to this energy approach by chi ball or touching
with your hands. Students simply have to say “I now accept the reiki
attunement to Ethereal Tattoo Reiki sent to me by (name of teacher)”.

As usual, this energy system is to encourage relaxation and healing and you
should still see your medical doctor for support during illness. Good luck and
happy reiki.
