NARRATIVE REPORT:
As a kick-off activity for the academic year 2019-2020, the Youth for Environment in School Organization
(YES-O) launched its Coastal Clean-Up Drive to be “one with nature” at Brgy. Aplaya, Bongabong, Or. Mindoro.
It was held last July 6, 2019, Saturday in accordance with the celebration of Ecology Month. The said activity
began with the the gathering of selected YES organiztion members and officers together with their advisers in St.
Joseph Academy at 6:00 o’clock in the morning. As the sun rises, the YES-O members armed with cleaning
materials such as brooms, dust pans, and trash bags started to walk together towards the assigned area to clean. The
group arrived at the area around 6:30 am. With the goal to help the cleanliness of the community, the YES-O
members started sweeping off the trash especially the plastics that are scattered on the shore. They also picked up
leaves, branches and twigs of trees that are found in the area. There has been a noticeable difference when the area
was cleaned up. It became more ideal for picnics and gathering for families who just want to enjoy a deep in the
sea. All the gathered trash were put in an assigned area where in will be collected by the garbage truck.
The activity ended with a remarkable transformation brought about by the utmost participation of the YES-O
members who just want to initiate a change in the community. It also awakened the member’s hearts and minds of
their responsibility to take care and show concern to their environment. It was considered a success that this simple
activity can benefit the community as a whole.
