No problem. How badly can a simple diplomatic mission go.

Many generations ago a diplomatic mission about a trade
dispute resulted in sixty years of galactic civil war.
EINRIDI

SCENE 2
(Sound of a ship door opening)
A DUFFELBAG with the Jedi symbol is tossed
on stage L. EIRIDI follows as if shoved.
EINRIDI
Hey, watch it!
(Sound of a ship taking off)
EINRIDI
Thats no way to treat a hero of the Jedi Order. The man
that single handedly defeated the most vile and dangerous
man the galaxy has ever seen!
GUARD 1 enters from R
GUARD 1
Most dangerous man in the universe. Who might that be?
EINRIDI
The Maestro. Single handedly ended the great war.
GUARD 1
You killed the Maestro?
EINRIDI
Why, what did you hear?
GUARD 1
Nothing. Just seems a little... unbelievable.
EINRIDI
Well believe it, I'm the best the Jedi Order has to offer.
Nothing gets past me.
A PRISONER sneaks on L and picks up the
duffelbag.
GUARD 1
Well, except maybe them.

Hey!
Prisoner runs off L. Einridi starts to
follow, but does not leave stage.
EINRIDI
Oh, come on. (To Guard 1) Don't you have any police of
guards or something?
GUARD 1
Yeah. That's me, us.
Guard 1 whistles.
GUARD 1
Check it out mates. This is the Jedi who apparently killed
the Maestro.
Enter GUARD 2 and GUARD 3

Someone oughtta tell the Weird Sisters about that
EINRIDI
Oh. You think they'd be fans?
GUARD 3

EINRIDI
Well then, we can skip the introductions. Why don't you
just show me to whoever's in charge.
GUARD 2
Nobody gets to the boss without going through the weird
sisters.
EINRIDI
Oh. Well in that case, maybe I'll just--

Guard 1 steps forward and punches Einridi in
the gut.Guard 2 punches across the jaw.
Guard 3 draws a lightsaber. Einridi mirrors

SCENE 3
JOVI and TINDOME enter L
JOVI
Thrice the brinded lothcat mew'd.
TINDOME
Thrice and once the tauntaun gaggled
There is a long awkward silence.
JOVI
No. See, I told you we're going to need to find a
replacement. The charms don't work with out her.
TINDOME
Well it's not my fault she got stuck with collection duty
on the day we needed more Voxyn teeth.
JOVI
No, but you're the one who was supposed to remove the acid
sack from the Voxyn so we could take his teeth without
dying.
TINDOME
Acid schmacid, if she was better with animals none of this
would of happened.
JOVI
A whole world full of prisoners and we can't use magik to
turn them into horrible monsters.
TINDOME
I was really looking forward to seeing a monster eat
somebody today.
GUARDS enter R with a bound EINRIDI
JOVI
What's this then?
GUARD 2

Caught this big shot Jedi snooping around outside.
EINRIDI
I wasn't snooping.
JOVI
Then what were you doing?
GUARD 1
Getting his stuff stolen by one of the inmates.
TINDOME
I hope it wasn't anything nice. Ooh, was it something for

JOVI

Tindome sticks out her tongue at Jovi
JOVI
Why are you here big shot Jedi?
EINRIDI
I'm on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan.
JOVI
Alderaan was destroyed five hundred years ago
TINDOME
Boom! (she laughs)
GUARD 3
He says he killed the Maestro
Jovi and Tindome gasp and look horrified.
Einridi is pleased with himself
Jovi and Tindome break out in laughter. The
guards follow suit
EINRIDI
What? What's so funny?

Ooh, ooh. I wanna tell him.
THE MAESTRO enters L
MAESTRO
Tell me what?
The guards all salute
EINRIDI
Maestro?!?!
TINDOME
No fair!
EINRIDI
But I thought you...
MAESTRO
Thought I what? (BEAT) Master Einridi.
EINRIDI

MAESTRO
Of course, you are the worst Jedi I've ever met.
EINRIDI
Oh yeah, well you're the worst... you're just the worst.
(BEAT) How about you let me go for old times sake, and we
just call it even.
MAESTRO
I supposed I could.
EINRIDI
Thank you.
MAESTRO
I said I could, not that I would. I'm no longer a man on
the run, my old friend.
EINRIDI

MAESTRO
No, but perhaps you are right, and I do owe you a favor
'for old time sake'. I shall allow you to fight one of my
minions. Whichever you choose. One of my guards. Perhaps
even one of my nightsisters. (Beat) Wait, did there used t
be three of you

During this speech, Jovi starts picking at

her nails.
Tindome approaches the Maestro and whispers
to him.
MAESTRO
A voxyn you say. I hope she wasn't hurt too badly--
Tindome whispers more
MAESTRO
Melted? Really? Well, it is rather hard to cast a spell as
a puddle. (Beat) Where was I? Oh yes, If you win, I will
allow you to go free and run back to your Jedi temple as
you have always done. If you lose-- (laugh) Who shall it
be?
All guards and Tindome take action poses.
Jovi keeps picking at her nails.
EINRIDI
Her (points at Jovi)
JOVI
I'm sorry, what were we talking about.
Tindome goes to the side of the stage and
returns with a red lightsaber which she
hands to Jovi
TINDOME
Good luck.

One of the guards gives Einridi back his
saber
(JOVI V EINRIDI)
Jovi wins
MAESTRO
Pathetic. You really are the worst Jedi I've ever met. Take
him to the dungeons.

SCENE 4
Stage is full of prisoners.
DUVAL, VOLOS, THRYM, MORGANA CARRAS and
others dot the stage.
Downstage Volos and Duval are playing cards.
DUVAL
You're cheating.
VOLOS
(with a hand wave)
No I'm not.
DUVAL
That doesn't work
VOLOS
(with another hand wave)
Yes it does.
DUVAL
(grabbing Volos' arm and pulls cards out
of his sleeve)
You need to be a Jedi to do that, and last I checked Jedi
didn't wear slippers.
Guards enter with Einridi
DOOR SOUND
GUARD 2
In ya go
They toss Einridi into the crowd.
GUARD 1
And watch out for the big guy. Rumor is he's a cannibal.
DOOR SOUND
Guards exit.

Einridi turns back to the door.
Thrym approaches him while his back is
turned.
EINRIDI
Come on. I shouldn't be tossed in with cannibals because I
lost a fight.
Thrym puts a hand on Einridi's shoulder
THRYM
Me no cannibal.
Einridi turns.
EINRIDI
I believe you. You don't look like a people eater.
THRYM
No, me eat people. Me just not human. Cannibalism eating
own species.
(sniffs Einridi)
Need garlic.
Thrym walks away
EINRIDI
Lemme out of here!
Morgana approaches
MORGANA
Don't mind Thrym. In the whole time I've been here, he's
only eaten... one, two... well it couldn't be more than six
people. (BEAT) Anyway, I'm Morgana take a flyer. We're
going to start a revolution.
DUVAL
Knock it off with that revolution nonsense. Ain't no
revolution going to happen.
MORGANA
Hey, I would have had a revolution last time if they hadn't

Morgana moves about the stage handing out
flyers as the scene continues. Eventually
leaving the stage and handing them out to
the audience.
EINRIDI
Thank the force!
Einridi hugs Volos
EINRIDI
If there's two of us here, the council will have to send a
rescue mission.
VOLOS
Two of us? I'm not a Jedi. Didn't you notice the
(Indicates slippers)
I'm a conman. Or was until... Had to sell my boots to get
offworld in a hurry when the locals caught on to me.
DOOR NOISE

Jovi and Guard 3 enter.
JOVI
Listen up. Due to... technical difficulties, we're going a
different route today for the arena.
Guard 3 tosses down a large bag.
JOVI
Everybody gets one. Some of them are set to stun.
DUVAL
Which is which?
JOVI
Guess we'll find that out together, won't we.
Prisoners scramble and pull LIGHTSABERS out
of the bag
Carras turns on a lightsaber.
EINRIDI
That one's mine.
CARRAS
I don't see your name on it.
Thrym steps up and grabs the lightsaber by
the blade, pulling it from Carras and
handing it to Einridi.
EINRIDI
Thanks. Guess we know it's one of the stun ones.
JOVI
Also, in light of recent events, we'll be holding
nightsister auditions after the matches. No experience
necessary, but a memory for spells is a plus. (BEAT)
Matches start in ten minutes. Good luck.

SCENE 5
Tindome enters and addresses the audience
TINDOME
Ladies and gentlemen. He is the conqueror. The Sith Lord
that has brought a thousand year reign of darkness. The
tyrant who single handed destroyed the Jedi Order before
moving on to new conquests in wild space. The one. The
only. The Maestro!
Maestro enters
CHEERS
MAESTRO
Bow and gaze in awe at my power! Tonight you will see
skill. Tonight you will see cunning. Tonight perhaps you
will even see might enough to challenge me! For years now
we have searched for a champion who could rival me. Most
were eaten. Some were disintegrated. None rose to the
challenge. Perhaps tonight will be different. Are you ready
to be entertained?
CHEERS
MAESTRO
Bring on the warriors!
Prisoners enter and move across stage
Volos stands next to Einridi
VOLOS
Undercard will go first. Warm everyone up. Once things are
going, they'll send in one of the monsters or someone from
the Maestro's crew.
Maestro moves behind them. He stops at Duval
and raises his hand. Duval pulls it away.
Maestro shoves him down and points a
lightsaber at him.

MAESTRO
I could kill you now. I should kill you now. (BEAT) But
then they would not be entertained.
(points to HILD)
You! (BEAT) Kill him or I'll kill the both of you.
Exit all except Duval and Hild.
(DUVAL v HILD)
Hild wins. Duval is dragged off by Guards 2
& 3.
Hild celebrates until Guard 1 enters and
leads her off.
Maestro enters
MAESTRO
How quaint. Lets move on to something more dramatic.
Perhaps something six stories tall and covered with fangs
Tindome runs on and whispers to the Maestro.
MAESTRO
No monsters? None?
Tindome whispers more
MAESTRO
That's right. I do remember you saying that. Melted. Yech.
(BEAT) I guess we'll need something just as unique.
Tindome tries to exit, but guards 2 & 3
block her.
MAESTRO
I heard you're holding auditions. Perhaps two witches will
be as easy to find as one
(to off stage prisoners)
Who is up to this task?
There's a long silence. Finally Guard 1
pushes Volos on stage.

VOLOS
Hey. Watch it.
MAESTRO
Volos of Nari. Trickster and spinner of tales. You believe
you can beat my nightsister.
VOLOS
What? No. I just got dragged out here when nobody--
MAESTRO
Excellent. Good luck Volos the Liar.
Maestro exits as Tindomw draws sabers.
VOLOS
Oh crap
(VOLOS v TINDOME)
Tindome Wins. Volos Dies.
CHEERS
Tindome exits leaving Volos.
Thrym enters, picks up Volos and carries him
off.
Prisoners all start to cross stage.
MORGANA
No one ever beats the weird sisters.
CARRAS
Somebody's got to try.

SCENE 6
Guard 1, Guard 3, Carras and others stand in
a line.
Morganna enters and hands everyone flyers.
Jovi and Tindome enter.
JOVI
What are you doing?
MORGANA
The revolution is coming. Take a flyer.
Tindome takes one.
JOVI
This is an audition, not a rebel meeting.
MORGANA
Can't it be both
Jovi takes the flyers
JOVI
Why are you here?
MORGANA
You guys offer a reasonable salary and a good dental plan.
Being a prisoner offers... well... nothing.
JOVI
You don't become a nightsister for the money.
TINDOME
Or the dental plan.
JOVI
Or the dental plan, though it is a good one. It something
you have to want. Do you want it?
MORGANA
I mean if it's that or prison...

Jovi draws her lightsaber
JOVI
Show me that you want it.
Tindome hands Morgana a staff
MORGANA
What am I supposed to do with this?
Jovi swings the saber at her.
(JOVI v MORGANA)
Jovi wins, but spares Morgana. Guard 2
enters and drags Morgana off.
JOVI
Now, what about the rest of you?
Jovi starts to walk down the line of them,
inspecting them. She gets to Guard 1 who is
dressed like a wizard.
JOVI
What are you supposed to be?
GUARD 1
You guys are wizards right? I figure dress for the job you
want.
JOVI
Get out.
Guard 1 exits, picking up a flyer as he
goes.
TINDOME
Expecto Palpatine
Jovi glares at her.
JOVI
What about the rest of you? (BEAT) Pathetic.
Jovi walks away. Tindome approaches them.

TINDOME
Hm. No. You'll never work.
She stabs guard 3.
JOVI
Tindome!
TINDOME
What? Killing people is what we do
JOVI
No it isn't we're not monsters.
TINDOME
No, but we turn people into them and they eat other people,
so...
JOVI
Fair enough. (BEAT) Let's go, we're not going to find
anyone worthwhile here.
Tindome starts to cross the stage.
Carras waits a moment, then draw out her
saber and lunges at Tindome.
(CARRAS v TINDOME)
Tindome wins.
JOVI
What did I just say.
TINDOME
That nobody here was worthwhile.
JOVI
Yes, but... before that. (HUFFS) Don't kill her. Bring her
along.
TINDOME
She tried to kill m
JOVI

Tindome helps up Carras and the three exit.

Einridi, Morgana, Thrym, Hild and Duval
stand/sit around the stage
DUVAL
That was a stupid thing to do, you know that.
MORGANA
How else am I going to recruit.
DUVAL
You handed a flyer to one of the weird sisters.
MORGANA
So. Who wouldn't want to rebel against the Maestro
EINRIDI
Look, we're not idiots. (BEAT) Most of us are not idiots.
We should be able to think our way out of this.
THRYM
What if Thrym knock down cell door and we run away.
EINRIDI
Could you do that?
THRYM
No.
HILD
Thanks for that big guy. (BEAT) What about you mister big
shot Jedi. Isn't it your job to get people like us out of
situations like this.
EINRIDI
In theory yes.
DOOR NOISE
Guard 1 enters. No one acknowledges him
HILD
Than why are we still here.

DUVAL

throat) killing him?

DUVAL
Back up for a second. How do you technically not kill
someone?
EINRIDI
He was running away. I just pointed him to a ship with a
broken navigation system. I figured it would get rid of
him. As far as the council is concerned, it did.
DUVAL
Get rid of him. All you did was dump him on our doorstep.
EINRIDI
How was I supposed to know he'd end up on an inhabited
planet.
HILD
Have you run the numbers on our galaxy. Nearly every planet
is inhabited. It defies all logic, but it's true.

Wait. Why we let guard make us argue?
DUVAL
Well, because... actually that's a good point.

Guard does a force move that knocks everyone
but Thrym.

Maestro and Guard 2 enter, followed by Jovi
and Tindome.
MAESTRO
How have your "auditions" been going?
JOVI
There were some... interesting candidates.
MAESTRO
I do not have time for interesting. We need monsters. Fear
is what keeps this planet in line. Fear that within these
falls is a fate worse than the slavery and starvation that
they will face outside. Fear of being eaten by one of your
monsterous creations.
JOVI
We're doing the best we can.
MAESTRO
I'm thinking of a word Jovi. It is a word for what you are
giving me. It starts with an E. Do you know what it is?
TINDOME
Evisceration!
MAESTRO

TINDOME
Explosions!
MAESTRO

TINDOME
Necromancy!
MAESTRO
That doesn't even start with an E. (BEAT) The word is
excuses. You are giving me excuses when I expect you to

monstrosities that will satisfy the bloodlust of our
spectators and inspire compliance with our citizens.
JOVI
We have one candidate. We believe she'll make a fine

MAESTRO

melted... like your sister... forget it. Now, leave me.
JOVI AND TINDOME

Jovi and Tindome exit.
MAESTRO
Why is it do hard to find good help these days? Everyone
wants to usurp you or work for your enemies. (BEAT) You can
barely turn your back to someone
(Guard 2 draws a lightsaber)
Without them trying to kill you. It's almost enough to make
a man not want to be a tyrannical overlord in this day and
age.
Guard 2 attacks
(GUARD 2 v MAESTRO)
Maestro wins
MAESTRO
Why? Why would you betray me. You had been my servant for
years. Loyal. Efficient. Blood thirsty. Why?
Maestro bends and pulls a FLYER from Guard
2's pocket.
MAESTRO
Damn these flyers!
Maestro stomps off.

SCENE 9
Tindome enters and addresses the audience
TINDOME
Ladies and gentlemen. When he was a child he turned an
entire world to ash with a snap of his fingers. As he grew
so did did his power. By the time he was thirteen, the
legendary Lord Vader sent him a fan letter. When he was
sixteen the Dark Side of the Force itself politely asked if
it could call itself the Maestro Side of the Force. And
when he became a man, entire worlds slaughtered themselves
rather than draw his wrath. Ladies and gentlemen, I give
you...
Maestro stomps onto stage with GUARD 1,
GUARD 4 and GUARD 5
MAESTRO
Enough of this nonsense. My regime has been infected. My
most loyal turned against me. And for what? The false hope
of a revolution! There will be no revolution, unless I am
leading it, and I would never revolt against myself because
not even I could overthrow me! (BEAT) There must be
punishment for this betrayal. Perhaps a decimation is in
order. Yes. A decimation. Today every fight must end in
death.
Guard 4 steps forward and whispers to the
Maestro.
MAESTRO
Only ten percent? Really? Well is there a word for fifty
percent? No. Never mind. They know what I meant. (BEAT) Let
us begin with a special treat. Send in the revolutionary!
Morgana enters, holding the staff Tindome
handed her.
MAESTRO
This is all your fault, and so the first blood must be
yours. Blood that we had spared.

Volos enters opposite. He is clearly hurt.
MORGANA
Volos? I thought you were dead.
VOLOS
I hurt so bad I wish I was.
MAESTRO
The choice is yours, but one of you must die.
Maestro and guards exit.
VOLOS
Don't worry. I have an idea.
MORGANA
A good idea?
VOLOS
I didn't say that

(VOLOS v MORGANA)
Volos drops his pants
The guards rush in and drag Volos off stage.
Maestro enters
MAESTRO
You continue to mock me. Well, perhaps your spirit should
be ground down a bit more. Sisters!
Jovi, Tindome and Carras enter.
MAESTRO
There is no world in which you petty prisoners can escape
my power. The only way to escape is to submit. Your friend
Carras has accepted this, and now she has power beyond your
imagination.
Maestro motions to Carras.

Carras steps forward and kneels before the
Maestro.
MAESTRO
My dear Carras, would you like to prove yourself to your
new sisters and I? (Carras nods) Then kill Morgana.
MORGANA
No!
MAESTRO
I'm afraid you have no choice.
MORGANA
No. Nonono. Your own rules say that a prisoner may only
fight once an event.
MAESTRO
(to Jovi and Tindome)
Is that true?
Jovi pulls a book out of nowhere and opens
it. Jovi and Timdome look at the book for a
moment.
JOVI
She's right.
MAESTRO
Who wrote these rules
JOVI
You did, my lord.
MAESTRO
Fine. Then I shall have you fight my old friend.
Guards 3 & 4 drag Einridi onto the stage.
MAESTRO
You shall kill Morgana next time, I suppose. For now, rid
our world of the Jedi menace
CARRAS

Yes my lord.
Maestro, Jovi and Tindome exit.
(CARRAS v EINRIDI)
They come to a draw.
Carras raises her saber.
CARRAS
Viva la revolution!
EINRIDI
What?
CARRAS
It's now or never (BEAT) I'm on your side idiot.
The other prisoners enter.
Guard 1 enters opposite
GUARD 1
I know how do get to the Maestro.
He hands Duval a blaster.
CARRAS
And I can get us to the weird sisters.
EINRIDI
May the Force be with us.
All but Morgana exit
MORGANA
The revolution has come!

SCENE 10
(A few pairs run across the stage Benny Hill-like.

Maestro enters
Morgana enters as he is almost across the
stage.
MORGANA
The revolution is here.
MAESTRO
You are beneath me. Guards!
Guard 5 enters.
MAESTRO
Destroy her! (Beat) Destroy her! (Beat) Now!
Maestro turns to the guard.
Guard pulls out a flyer.
MAESTRO
Where are you even getting the paper for those.

(MAESTRO v GUARD)
He turns back to Morgana
MORGANA
Take that stupid mask off and face me.
Maestro steps down stage with back to
audience. He lists his helmet.
Morgana looks like shes going to vomit.
MORGANA
Wow. Ew. Why don't we just put that back on.
She lowers his mask. They square off.

Maestro runs her through. Maestro exits.
Carras, Einridi, and Volos enter.
CARRAS
You know for such a big place, I would have thought the
