9. Objective of the course: The objective of this course is to provide the
students an introduction to quantum computation. Much of the background
material related to the algebra of complex vector spaces and quantum
mechanics is covered within the course.

quantum mechanics, Measurements in bases other than computational basis.
3 Quantum Circuits: single qubit gates, multiple qubit gates, design of quantum 06
circuits.
4 Quantum Information and Cryptography: Comparison between classical and 06
quantum information theory. Bell states. Quantum teleportation. Quantum
Cryptography, no cloning theorem.
5 Quantum Algorithms: Classical computation on quantum computers. 10
Relationship between quantum and classical complexity classes. Deutsch’s
algorithm, Deutsch’s-Jozsa algorithm, Shor factorization, Grover search.
5 Noise and error correction: Graph states and codes, Quantum error correction, 10
fault-tolerant computation.
