The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial serves as a community mobilization campaign to raise
social consciousness about HIV and AIDS. With 33 million people living with HIV today, the International
AIDS Candlelight Memorial aids as an important intervention for global solidarity, breaking down
barriers of stigma and discrimination, and giving hope to new generations. It provides opportunity to
commemorate loved ones who have lost their lives to HIV; to show solidarity with people living with
HIV; to reduce stigma and discrimination against key populations, including men who have sex with
men, people who use drugs, sex workers and young people.

In connection with this, the Ormoc City Health Department in collaboration with Ormoc City Youth
Development and Ormoc City Local Aids Council will commemorate AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2019
with the theme “One Big Fight for Health and Rights of People Living with HIV”. We hope to invite you to
be one of our guest speakers on May 24, 2019, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm at Ormoc City Superdome. We
appreciate if you could discuss and share your expertise regarding HIV Stigma and Confidentiality
matter.
