Introducing yourself

What do you say when you meet someone new? Introduce yourself of course!

Introducing yourself is much more then saying your name. You need tell some more
information about you in English. Introducing yourself to strangers can be tricky because what
you say depends on the context, situation (introduce yourself in a job interview, introduce
yourself in a email or give self introduction in English class).

- Fomal greeting : The most usual way of greeting someone in the English language is to
say “Hello” you can continue the conversation by adding “How are you?” or another
comment or Question.
Example:
 Hello, Jean how are you today?
 Hello, Jean. Had a good day?
The greeting “Hello” can be used in formal and informal situation. There are:
Good morning
How are you?
How’s your weekend?
How do you do?
- Informal greeting: A more informal way of greeting someone is to say “Hi”.this
exclamation is used in informal situations when people who know each other meet.
Example:
 Hi, Sandy. How are you doing?
You can use the greeting “How do you do?” when you want to greet someone in a very
formal way. This greeting is used only by people who are meeting each other for the first
time. There are:

- Social function: To sustain good interpersonal relationships with teacher, student, and
others.
- Learning focus: introducing yourself, introducing people, understanding formal and
informal dialogs, talking about daily activities.

Good morning all , allow me to introduce myself in. my name is Faiz riski. I was born in
Indramayu on 26 July 1995. Now I live in Garut. Right now I stayed at my aunt’s house. Now
allow me to introduce myself further. I like things that smell of adventurous, and small things
like reading. Watching ,and spent my free time by doing nothing . okay now about me and my
family. I am the first hild in my family. I have a little sister , and she is high school student.
My father is a police which is named Endang Kurniawan. While mother is a housewife. I love
my family more than anything. Well that’s is my introduction this time. nice to meet you..
