Wayan Koster 2. Honorable Regent of Badung, Bapak I Nyoman Giri Prasta 3. Honorable Chairman of ASITA Bali, Bapak I Ketut Ardana, S.H 4. Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Om Swastyastu, Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
A very good evening to all of you,
Allow me to express my sincere appreciation and warmest greetings to all of you here today. It is my great pleasure to meet all of you here at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park for the event of Welcome Dinner and Opening Ceremony of Bali and Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) 2019. I would like to express my appreciation to ASITA Bali as the organizer of Bali and Beyond Travel Fair 2019, who consistently organize this event for the last few years. Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, BBTF is considered to be the leading tourism exhibition in Indonesia. This year, there are 232 Sellers from 3 countries and 17 provinces in Indonesia, and 303 Buyers from 46 countries. Hopefully in the future, BBTF will evolve as one of the major international tourism exhibitions in the region, holding similar status like MATTA Fair and ITB Asia in Singapore, or even in the world like ITB Berlin and WTM London. This exhibition not only promotes Bali as a world class tourism destination, but also builds better awareness of other provinces in Indonesia. Eventually, the tourists will enjoy more diverse attractions and the economic benefits of tourism activities will be distributed in the region beyond Bali. Tourism is the biggest contributor for Bali’s economy. The number of tourist arrival to Bali in 2018 was recorded at 6.070.743 foreign tourists or an increase of 6,67%, and 9.757.991 domestic tourists or an increase of 11,70%. And this year, the tourist arrivals to Bali from January to March 2019 was recorded 1.819.755 foreign tourists. Ladies and Gentlemen, The theme for this year's Bali and Beyond Travel Fair is "The Journey to Sustainable Tourism." Sustainable Tourism Developments has become a world trend for the last few years. Tourism development must consider 3 factors: Environment, Economic, and Community. In line with this trend, tourism development in Indonesia must also consider 3P principles: Planet, People, and Prosperity. The Ministry of Tourism has three programs, namely Sustainable Tourism Destination (STD) through Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Awards (ISTA), Sustainable Tourism Observatory (STO), and Sustainable Tourism Certification (STC), which focused on 10 Priority Tourism Destinations. In Bali, we have established Sustainable Tourism Observatory (STO) in Sanur, in cooperation with Udayana University Bali, supported by UNWTO.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Let me conclude my speech by wishing Bali & Beyond Travel Fair 2019 to be a success and ends with a significant number of business transactions.
Enjoy your beautiful evening,
Thank you, Om, Shanti, Shanti, Shanti, Om Wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
