BSED-ENGLISH

Strategy: Concept Mapping
Purpose: To activate and engage students during all stages of the learning process.

Description: Using concept mapping, students construct a model for organizing and integ-
grating the information that they are learning. Concept mapping can be used
prior to an assignment as a brainstorming activity, during an assignment as an
organizing strategy, or as a post-assessment activity.

Procedure:
1. Choose a key word or topic related to a unit of study.
2. Write the word on an overhead transparency or on a sheet of chart paper.
3. Ask students to think of as many words and ideas as they can that relate to the focal
word.
4. Write the words on a map in clusters or categories.
5. Have the students suggest labels for the categories and write them on the map.
6. If there are any key vocabulary words that are important to the comprehension of a
reading assignment and students do not mention them, add them to the map with a red
marker or pen.
7. Discussion of the concept map is the most important part of the lesson. This helps
students become aware of their current thinking and helps them to see relationships
between words and ideas.
8. After the reading assignment, or as the unit progresses, new words and categories can be
added to the map. Use different colors of ink to show that this information was not
known prior to the reading or unit of study.
DETAILED LESSON PLAN FOR GRADE 7

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

 Determine the different functions of noun.


 Value the importance of nouns in constructing sentences.
 Participate in activity and answer the given exercises with enthusiasm.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: NOUN: Determining the noun and its different functions.


Materials: Manila paper,
marker, chalk

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Preparation

I see some ducks, I see some
Cows, Carabaos and pretty geese
And over there are little chicks
Running about saying cheep, cheep.

Nouns are the name of things, places,
events and persons. Noun functions in
different ways. We have the following:

1. Proper Noun- proper name of a


person, place or things.
Examples:
Delhi- place
Arjan – name of a person
Alaska- brand name of milk
Panda- brand name of ballpen (Student’s raise their hands and give the
examples)

2. Common Noun- common name of


a place, things or a person.

so that we can write legibly because we

Again, NOUN is a name referring to a


person, place, things or events. There are
functions of noun such as the proper,
common, collective, material and abstract
noun.

E. APPLICATION

group yourselves into five (5). Then,
using the poem above “On the Farm” (Student’s went to their groups and do

examples on each functions of noun.
I will give you 10 minutes to do the
activity and then discuss it to the class.

IV. EVALUATION

Answer the following exercises on a ¼ sheet of paper.


Direction: Determine whether the underlined words are proper, common, collective,
material or abstract noun. Write the words and put the answer beside it.

1. Anna went to the school bringing her lunchbox.


2. The acquaintance party at Julio Ledesma Nat’l High School was filled with crowd.
3. I never see such lovely as a tree.
4. Her friend was a member of the Alliance Company.
5. My panda ballpen was out of ink.

V. AGREEMENT

On a one whole sheet of paper, write a journal about your weekends and underline the
different functions of nouns.
