PERSONAL STATEMENT

My keen interest for the Offshore and Ocean Technology with subsea
engineering programme comes as a result of my engineering background and
innovative skills in mechanical engineering design. Beyond doubt, one way to
make a mark in deep water Exploration and Production business is to choose a
career path that will place me at the forefront, a path that link with Mechanical
Engineering (my first degree course), and Offshore Technology with Subsea
Engineering is the answer.
Having worked in the oil and gas industry, I have gained little but vital
experience in key areas such as Well Completion, Piping Design, Facilities
Operation, Flow Assurance and Process Control. This will in no doubt enhance
my
understanding of relevant terminologies in Offshore Technology with Subsea
Engineering and culminate in my success.

During my first degree programme, I was one of the most reliable students’
tutor, where I tutored my fellow students in some core engineering courses
such as Thermodynamics, Machine Design, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer,
Strength of Materials, Advanced Engineering Mathematics, and others, which
are prerequisite to the theory of Offshore Technology with Subsea Engineering.
Currently, I am still in the business of tutoring undergraduate engineering
students at my leisure. I am also in the business of training fresh engineering
graduates in the use of some engineering software packages such as
ORCAFLEX, Autodesk INVENTOR, PDMS, and others, of which some are Finite
Element Analysis (FEA) software use for subsea installation analysis and
dynamic simulation. Besides, I have no doubt to believe that my
industrial/professional experience is able to stand me out, and can as well be
considered in-lieu of any required minimum academic qualification.

Recovering hydrocarbons efficiently and safely at depths in excess of 3000-

m and at pressures up to 35,000-kpa requires unconventional method of
exploration/production, and as such the need for specialized subsea
equipments and trained personnel is indispensible. It thus follows that a
career in Offshore Technology with Subsea Engineering is a promising one, and
a degree in it will exactly increase my value/demand in the Petroleum
Industry, as well as boasting the percentage of Nigerians in this demanding
area of Oil and Gas exploration.

In comparison with other Schools, the Offshore Technology with Subsea

Engineering Programme in Cranfield University is structured to align with
Industrial demands,
and thus a graduate of Cranfield University will definitely be able to take up
key roles in the Petroleum industry with just little or no further training. This
and many more are my
motivations for choosing Cranfield University.
Offshore Technology with Subsea engineering is not offered in Nigeria
Universities. Besides, the merger between schools and industries, which
results in balance and makes graduate takes key responsibility in the
industries with little or no further training is common to schools in Nigeria, but
much more common to schools in UK. Thus my drive towards schools in UK.
