ITINERARY IN DETAIL
Day01 Arrive Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri * Onto Kalimpong (79 kms / approx. 3 hour drive)
Welcome to 'Splendours of the East - Deluxe' tour. On arrival at the airport in Bagdogra/railway station in New Jalpaiguri, you
will be transferred to your hotel in Kalimpong.
The rest of the evening is at leisure.
Overnight in Kalimpong (D)
Day02 Onto Gangtok (85 kms / approx. 3 hour drive)
This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kalimpong including Zong Dong Palri Fo-Brang Monastery and Pine View
Nursery.Zong Dong Palri Fo-Brang Monastery is also known as the Durpin Monastery. It has been constructed by The Dalai
Lama in Durpin Dara and hence the name Durpin Dara Monastery. The monastery is situated at a height of 1370 m on top of the
Durpin hill.
The Pine View Nursery has great collections of cactus and ornamental plants. These collections have been collected from
North, South and Central America.
Later in the afternoon, proceed on a picturesque drive to Gangtok where on arrival, you will check-in to your hotel.
The rest of the day is at leisure.
Overnight in Gangtok (B, D)
Day03 In Gangtok
This morning, proceed on a city tour visiting Do Drul Chorten. Built by the revered Trulshi Rimpoche, who served as the head of
the Nyingma order of the Tibetan Buddhism, the chorten, is a Buddhist shrine, typically a saint's tomb or a monument to the
Buddha. Inside the stupa, there are complete mandala sets of Dorjee Phurba (Bajra Kilaya), a set of Kan-gyur relics (Holy
Books), complete 'Zung'(mantras) and other religious objects. Around this Chorten, are 10 Mani-Lhakor (prayer wheels).
Also visit Rumtek monastery. Built by Rangjung Doje the 16th Karampa Lama in 1959 after he fled Tibet, the Rumtek Monastery
functioned as his home in exile. The flowing streams of water, Snow capped mountains, the proximity of the river and the
silence of the valley give the monastery a tranquil and peaceful environment.
The rest of the day is at leisure for you to explore and enjoy the Traditional Music Show and Cultural activities.
In Gangtok - Excursion to Tsomgo Lake / Tsangu Lake (45 kms / approx. 3 hour drive) (Timing will depend on the issuance of
Day04
Permit)
Early in the morning, depart for a half-day excursion to Tsomgo Lake / Tsangu Lake.
It is very rare that one gets to see a lake that was formed from a glacier. The Tsangu Lake is close to the Nathu la pass
between India and China. The lake is surrounded by coniferous trees that are perennial in nature. Due to its finely developed
ecosystem, the lake serves as a stopover for migratory birds in the winter. The lake is considered holy and is worshipped by the
locals.
Note: One has to obtain a permit directly in Gangtok to visit Tsomgo Lake / Tsangu Lake.
The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the local markets.
Day05 On to Pelling (117 kms / approx. 4 hour drive)
This morning, proceed on a picturesque drive to Pemayangtse (Pelling ). On arrival, check-in to your hotel.
The rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities.

Today proceed on a half day sightseeing tour of Pelling, visiting Pemayangtse Monastery,Rimbi Falls, Kanchenjunga Falls and
Khecheopalri - the wishing lake.
A Buddhists Monastery in Sikkim, the Pemayangtse Monastery was established in 1705 by Lama Lhatsun. This is the oldest
and the most prestigious monastery in Sikkim.
The Rimbi Waterfalls is a picturesque picnic and tourist spot located about 17 km from Pelling. The Rimbi Waterfalls lies in
close proximity to one of Sikkim's oldest hydro power stations and the Sewaro Rock Garden.
The Kanchenjunga falls are famous for their beauty and fierceness. These falls are rare in west Sikkim and are truly a wondrous
natural discovery.
Khecheopalri Lake, located at a height of 1950m, is believed to be in the shape of the footprint of goddess Tara. This natural
reservoir is a sacred lake to the Buddhists.
The rest of the day is at leisure.
Overnight in Pelling (B, D)
Day07 On to Darjeeling (75 kms / approx. 2 1/2 hour drive)
This morning, you will visit the Pemayangtse Monastery established in 1705 by Lama Lhatsun. It's the oldest and the most
prestigious monastery in Sikkim.
Later, drive to the Victorian hill station of Darjeeling. On arrival, you will check-in to your hotel.
The rest of the day is at leisure for shopping or exploring the hill station.
Overnight in Darjeeling (B, D)
Day08 Darjeeling
Early morning, proceed to Tiger Hills (8364 Ft / 2550 Mts at around 4 AM). Tiger Hill is synonymous with an amazing view of the
sunrise. On the way back, visit Ghoom Monastery locally known as Yogachoeling Gompa and Batasia Loop - a gigantic loop
through which the Toy Train makes a 360 degree turn.
After breakfast, proceed on a half-day sightseeing tour of Darjeeling, visiting places like the Japanese Temple, Peace pagoda,
Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tenzing Rock, Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee
Self Help Center (Closed on Sunday) and Tea Estate (panoramic view).
The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or explore the local markets.
Overnight in Darjeeling. (B, D)
Day09 Depart Darjeeling * Onto Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri (94 kms / approx. 3 hour drive)
Today, bid farewell to your 'Splendours of the East - Deluxe' tour, as you are transferred to the airport in Bagdogra / railway
station in New Jalpaiguri for your onward journey.

Please note that the tourism infrastructure in Sikkim and Darjeeling Hills region is not very advanced and the client should not
expect the Facilities / Amenities / Luxuries normally available in the metro cities or any other developed tourist destination.
We provide Ã¢â¬ÅExclusive Tourist VehiclesÃ¢â¬Â customized and maintained keeping in mind the basic necessities and
comfort of the travelers.
Note: It's not possible to provide a single vehicle for the entire trip in Darjeeling, Gangtok and Pemayangtse due to some
unwritten rules by the locals, therefore all the above transfers and sightseeing will be on point to point basis and in most of the
cases we will keep replacing the vehicle with a similar one.
Most of the sightseeing points in Darjeeling are closed on Thursday, Forests are also closed on Thursdays.
In Gangtok, Institute of Tibetology Institute of Handicrafts and handlooms are closed on Sundays
On arrival at NJP, our representative will be holding a placard near the main gate (please note at NJP Station there are 02 Exit
gates for passengers and clients are requested to come near the main exit gate).

2 photographs are required for the Tshangu Lake permit (Timing will depend on the issuance of Permit).
