ABSTRACT

Our life has been evolved and education has been flourished in recent

centuries. Although the stress has been increased on the individuals making

them need to entertain themselves.

Through investigation of the different ways could be create a positive

impact through architecture will be considered that people have all information

possibly needed but there is no way people can engage with the current events

if they do not have the opportunity to know and experience in a sustainable

way. You cannot love what you don’t know and you don’t know what you don’t

experience.

In this case, it serves as the way in which people can be welcomed to

reconnect with the origins our lives which is nature. Showing that it is possible

to offer a shelter that can be led a great diversity of living species and is home

to more than a fifth of the fresh water on the planet earth.

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

A. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The “eco resort” means a friendly environment development of the area.

Referred by Baud-Bovy (1998) a resort is essentially a place developed for the

stay of tourist, that providing multiple facilities for their accommodation,

recreation, entertainment, rest and other needs. Through the concentration of

facilities the resort acquires an identity character: it becomes a specific place to

go to and to enjoy in its own right. An eco resort offers a tropical experience to

visitors. Such a resort makes only a minimal impact on the environment without

compromising the guest’s comfort and safety. It can also be an economically

viable alternative to typical structures. The eco resort has to draw and blend with

the local natural and cultural environments by employing principles of

Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD).

Planning and design are essential on shaping the setting, visitors, or

resident’s perception of it and ultimately, the sense of place conveyed by the

resort in the context of its natural surroundings. Sustainability has become a

widely applied concept . It probably acts more like a symbol of a necessary

civilizational change. i.e a different perception of human activities and values, in

relation with an environment conscious attitude.

The concept of environment was also evolving at the same time, form an

almost identity with nature and the physical quality of its components affecting

mankind, to the perception and evaluation of the surrounding universe, through

social, economical, philosophical , and cultural, focused on the subjective goals

of quality life and sustainable development.

B. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

In recent years, it seems society has become more aware of the impact we

make on the environment. Even the simplest, everyday actions have effect we

never would have thought possible. This awareness has led to a bigger effort in

minimizing waste and finding sustainable solutions to the problem.

The following question is about to give emphasize on the objectives of the

study:

1. What is the site analysis of the proposed site for the project?

2. Can the project help solve the problems regarding of climate

change?

3. What are the functional components and spatial relationship of the

project?

4. How will be more effective and satisfy the eco farm resort to

ensure comfortable environment ?

5. What are the impacts of the project to its environment?

C. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The aim of this research work is to understand the complexity of the issues

related towards achieving the sustainable development and to design an eco

farm resort not only for leisure but will offer tourist a complete eco experience.

• Locating the buildings with public spaces and common facilities for
encouraging social interaction.

• Respond to climatic and energy consumption issues raised by present day

architecture through sustainable design.

• Provide a recreational environment for varieties of facilities and functions.

• Comfortable design which portrays an environment of leisure and

promotes interaction with nature .

• Designing with the suitable perspective to the surrounding environment

and without the environmental disadvantages.

D. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The study of “MARAHUYO: Enchantment through spatial quality and

experience” intends to show the sustainable eco resosrt and will be significant

in advocating developers to the same pattern of progress that will promote care

for the nature and prepare a clean and healthy environment for the future

generation.

This can be an instrument or reference in conducting new researches. This

study will also be able to help them to obtain knowledge in terms of science in

the future.

Furthermore, the study of eco-resort will help the government and private

investors to have explore the knowledge and to experiment the same context

to support our nation that will contribute to the welfare and development.

It could become a source of text for students for their research and help

them to give importance about this study. It will give them additional knowledge

for the next generation.

E. DEFINITION OF OPERATIONAL TERMS

• SUSTAINABILITY: Sustainability focuses on meeting the needs of the present

without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

In addition to natural resources. Sustainability is not just environmentalism.

Embedded in most definition of sustainability we also find concerns for social

equity and economic development.

• ECO-RESORT: An eco resort is a destination with lodging, dining, entertainment

where the central focus is the preservation of earth’s environments and living

ecosystems and the webs of interconnected life forms within the environments.

Vacationers leave their structured lives and work for a diverse cruises or

threatened ecosystem set aside for wildlife encounters.

• RECREATION: Recreation is an activity of leisure being discretionary time.

The need to do something for recreation is an essential element of human

biology and psychology. Recreational activities are often done for enjoyment,

amusement, or pleasure and considered to be fun.

• ECONOMICAL: Giving good value or service in relation to the amount of

money, time, or effort spent.

• PHILOSOPHICAL: Relating or devoted to the study of the fundamental nature

of knowledge, reality, and existence.

• CULTURAL: Relating to the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a society,

relating to the arts and to intellectual achievements.

• NATURE: The phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants,

animals, the landscape, and the other features and products of earth, as

opposed to human or human creations.

• FARM: An area of land and its buildings use for growing crops and rearing

animals, typically under the control of one owner or manager.
