“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”

Summer bring us the nice warm sun

for swimming ,dancing and lots of fun
Long awaited days are here
to explore the world out there..

Name: ________________________Class: III Sec _____

Dear Dipsites
Summer vacations, a learning paradise and your favourite time of the year is
here. The temptations are many… watching television, playing on play station,
mobile games but with a little ingenuity and planning, the summer can be
transformed into a time to stretch the mind, explore new hobbies and learn new
things. It’s time yet again to take advantage of those bright sunny days and
warm summer nights and plan something new. It can be tricky finding activities
to keep yourself occupied during vacation. The trick is to plan ahead.
Brainstorm ideas for things to do now and don't wind up spending the entire
summer watching cartoons. Set some rules over the summer break for watching
TV, playing games and spending time on the computer. Involve yourself in mind
boggling activities and make a Summer Bucket List to recharge, relax and explore
the unseen world.

Have a wonderful holiday and come back rejuvenated .

Task 1 – Books are our best companion. One is never

alone when one is with books. While exploring the new
things this summer, read a book and Make its report in
the given format.( Printable format of ‘My Book Report’
is enclosed at the end)
Suggested authors that you may read:-

 The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer

 Matilda- Roald Dahl
 Enid Blyton Series
 Charlotte’s Web
 Geronimo/ Thea Stilton
You may enjoy watching the remake of these stories in the form of movies too.

Task 2 – Project Dictionary Skill

Pick up a dictionary. Look for words starting with the first three letters of your
name. Choose 5 words and write their meaning. Use your imagination and create a
picturesque representation of words through illustrations/stick drawing etc. on A4
sheet.

Task 3 - Compose an ‘Acrostic Poem’ on your name

When we explore the world, we meet many strangers- some become acquaintances
and some friends. Therefore, introducing oneself is always an integral part of our
life. Let’s do it differently this time – in a poetic style!

Choose your own style and compose an acrostic poem using the letters of your name.
Write it on an A4 sheet and decorate it to make it as appealing as you can!

Refer to the sample given below to understand what an ‘ Acrostic Poem’ is.
EVS

Delhi, India’s capital territory, is a massive metropolitan area in our country’s

north. In Old Delhi, stands the imposing Mughal-era Red Fort, a symbol of India,
and the sprawling Jama Masjid mosque. Nearby is Chandni Chowk, a vibrant bazaar
filled with food carts, sweets shops and spice stalls. On the other side New Delhi is
an urban state, which was designed by British architects, Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir
Herbert Baker. Go out this vacation with your family and explore this interesting
mix of two distinct entities. Visit any famous garden, monument, places of tourist
interest, do your research, have fun with family.

Task 1. Write your experiences on an A-4 sheet, prepare a colourful booklet (on
your favourite place), decorate it and do remember to click a picture and paste
it along with your write up. Prepare ten lines to share with classmates after
vacation.

Exploring Mathematics encourages you to use and understand Mathematics in

everyday lives. To ensure a complete understanding of the topics done so far, we
have some interesting things assigned to you.
Task 1- Roll the dice 4 times and form your own 4-digit number. Repeat this twice
to get another 4-digit number. Now create your own word problem with these
two 4-digit numbers and solve it on an A-4 size pastel sheet. (will be provided
by the school)
Task 2- Make a Multiplication Tables Mat (A-3 size with tables 2-12 written on it)
and get it laminated.
Task 3- Create and design your own book-mark by coding and decoding your own
name in Hindu Arabic as well as Roman Numerals. (For eg. A=1, B=2, C=3, etc.,
Size of the bookmark- 18 cm x 5 cm approx., suggested base material - pastel
sheet or any thick sheet)
Task 4 - MINDSPARK ACTIVITY (Do remember to take out time everyday to do
Mind spark activity .Good luck for gathering sparkies.)
Task 5 - Pearls worksheet book page nos. 21-24.
Assignments- (Print, attempt and submit with your name, class, section to your

Task 6- Roman Numerals
There are lots of different systems for writing numbers. The one we are most
familiar with, is the Hindu Arabic System (eg. 1,2,3,4…). However, sometimes we
use another system for writing numbers called Roman Numerals. Ancient Romans
used their alphabet to represent numbers, and occasionally you will see this system
used in books, on the faces of clocks, in television, etc.

Use the Roman Numeral Conversion Chart below to answer a few questions.
