BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Sleep is an important need of a person to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Sleep plays a vital

role in good health and well-being. Getting enough quality sleep can help to improve your mental,

physical, emotional health. It also helps the brain to function such as strengthens the memory,

improves learning, decision making, and critical thinking. Seven to eight hours of sleep per night

is beneficial to every human being especially to students. This makes sleep important for the

students' in doing their daily assessment.

In today's generation, it is undeniable that staying up late is unavoidable to teenagers at this

time, especially as technology has grown in modern times. Therefore, this has a great impact to

the hours of sleep.

According to a study by Christopher Silas Neal in 2015, 87% of high school students in

the United States do not get enough sleep, but in our country, nothing has been recorded yet. In

the statistics mentioned, we can say that many high school students are staying up late and get

insufficient sleep.

According to a website called WebMD, a youth needs sleep eight to half to nine and a half

hours. According to the website called Sleep Foundation, sleep is needed to work our minds

properly. Sleep helps your brain work properly. While you're sleeping, your brain is preparing for

the next day. It's forming new pathways to help you learn and remember information.
