Multi-Hazard Drill

II. VENUE AND DATE

Tambis Primary School, January 20, 2019

III. SUMMARY

Multi-Hazard Drills is organize to guide pupils for them to aware


what to do in case of an emergency and how to avoid danger that could
come from disasters. Tambis Primary School conducted Multi-Hazard Drill
on January 20,2019.
This activity was started by an orientation in the Grade I-II
classroom at exactly 9:10 in the morning. Ms. Juliet V. Uy ,a Grade V and
VI teacher, discussed on what to do before, during and after earthquake.
She explains to the pupils that if there is a strong earthquake, each
student's first responsibility is for his or her own personal safety. Mrs. Arcelita
M. Cabalo orient the pupils the do’s and don’ts during flood and
landslide. She stressed out the importance of having survival kit and first
aid kit. Mrs. Freda Garbo lectured about the thing to do before, during
and after fire. After the discussions, video clips are being showed. In the
video, it demonstrates the step by step procedure in each calamity.
Before the orientation is ended, there were follow-up questions. Teachers
also encourage the pupils to raise their concerns.
In the afternoon, the four drills were demonstrated by the
pupils. The following were demonstrated simultaneously, Earthquake Drill,
Flood Drill, Landslide Drill and Fire Drill.

IV. Actual Result/ Outcome

Through the collaborative efforts of the teachers and pupils, the


objective of the activity was carried out. Pre-assigned tasks were completely
done, routine of activities were being followed, and the reenactment was
seriously responded.

V. Problems Encountered if Any

We encountered technical problem of the sound system and


microphone.

VI. Lesson Learned

Learning by doing produced lasting and meaningful learning. Pupils


seemed to be prepared, alert and aware during the activities.

VII. Sustainability or Replication

If constant practice makes perfect, then constant reminders and


integration would possibly ensure that everyone in the community is ready to
face earthquake phenomenon. Not only during allotted drill activity have the
pupils been be reminded of but also during teaching-learning instruction
especially when the objectives are lined with nature/environment.
