I . Objectives:

a. Read clearly the poem using appropriate pronunciation and intonation

c. Circle the words that does not rhyme with the others
d. Find three rhyming words

III.Procedure:

A. Preparatory activities:

1. Motivation: (5 mins.)
(Day 1) There are many different colors around us. Can you tell me

some of the colors that you know? (Identify the different colors) Among the
colors that you have just shared, I like the color ______. How about you?
What color do you like? In our poem today, let us find out the colors that the
speaker likes.

(Day 2) Sing the Food Song by Mrs. Jones. (The tune of the song is
Skip to my Lou)

I like fruits, yes, I do.

I like fruits, yes, I do.

I like fruits, yes, I do.

And my tummy loves them, too

2. Unlocking of difficult words (10 mins.)

(Day 1)
The teacher will unlock the word tummy.
Affective a
The teacher will hold his/her tummy and ask the students to hold their tummy.
“Where is your tummy? Can you touch your tummy?”

Ask the children to say the word tummy again.


Then say another word that has the same ending sound as tummy, for example:
mommy. “Tummy has the same ending sound as mommy.”

“Let’s say the words again, tummy, mummy. What same ending sound of these
words can you hear?”

Give 2 more examples of words and ask the students if it has the same ending
sound as tummy.

B. Developmental Activities:

1. Presentation ( 15 mins.)
(Day 1)
The teacher will teach the poem, “I Like”

Teacher says: Listen to the words blue and you. What do you notice? Do they
sound alike? Can you think of other words that sound like blue and you? How
about true? How about moo? How about red?

Rhyming words are two or more words that have the same or similar ending
sound. Some examples of rhyming words are: goat, boat, moat, float, coat.
Examples: hat- bat honey- money
sun- fun like- bike
bee- see down- town

(Day 2)

Read a poem about entitle “The Life of a cupcake”.


(Guide the learners to read the poem with correct pronunciation.)

The Life of a Cupcake

They put me in the oven to bake.


Me, a deprived and miserable cake. Psychomotor a
Feeling the heat, I started to bubble.
Watching the others, I knew I was in trouble.

They opened the door and I started my life.


Frosting me with a silver knife,
Decorating me with candy jewels.
The rest of my batch looked like fools.

Lifting me up, she took off my wrapper.


Feeling the breeze, I wanted to slap her.
Opening her mouth with shiny teeth inside,
This was the day this cupcake died.

2. Activities: ( 10 mins.)

Let the learners underline the rhyming words that can be seen in the poem Psychomotor b
entitled “ Paper Boat”

Paper Boat
A paper boat to an open sea
A world still separating you and me
I wish you could join me here
And sit with me on this pier
We don't have to talk or think
Just watch the sun as it sinks
To where all good must one day go
To a place nobody seems to know
That's where I go, I hope you do too
Until then, I will sit and wait for you.

Have the children sit in a circle and practice the thumbs up and thumbs down
response. Then have the children respond accordingly as you show or mention
different words that rhyme and do not rhyme.
