At the end of the lesson, the student can:

 Identify the rule of exponent in like terms.

 Simplify carefully the exponent in like terms.

II. SUBJECT CONTENT

Topic: Product Law of Exponent-THE SAME BASE WITH EXPONENT (First Law of Exponent)

Material: Laptop, Projector

III. PROCEDURES
PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

 Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of attendance

IV. LESSON PROPER

A. MOTIVATION
The teacher will divide the class into two groups, and will conduct an activity.

B. ANALYSIS
The teacher will relate the activity to lesson.

C. ABSTRACTION
(Direct Instruction)

PRODUCT LAW OF EXPONENT-LIKE TERMS WITH EXPONENT (First Law of Exponent)

Review: What is an exponent?

Exponent are a shorthand way to show a larger number.

Where is an exponent located at?

• Exponent are located in the upper right part of the base , and sometimes referred to as “power”

𝟔𝟐
MULTIPLICATION LAW OF EXPONENT

𝒂𝒎 × 𝒂𝒏 = 𝒂𝒎+𝒏
: When multiplying two exponent with the same base, keep the base and add the
exponents.

Example: 23 × 24 = 27

Proof: 23 × 24 =(2× 2 × 2) × (2 × 2 × 2 × 2) =2× 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 27

1. NOTE
The Law of exponent shows how to

SIMPLIFY

Expression in exponential form.

REMEMBER:

THE PRODUCT LAW OF EXPONENT CAN ONLY BE APPLY OR USE IF:

• THE PROBLEM HAS THE SAME BASE

• AND IF IT IS IN MULTIPLCATIVE FORM

ACTIVITY

The teacher will divide the class into two groups, and conduct an activity.

V. GENERALIZATION
Relate the first Law of Exponent in real life situation.

VI. EVALUATION

2. 6−3 × 65 =?

3. 43 × 4 =?

4. 56 × 52 =?

5. 97 × 92 =?
VII. ASSIGNMENT
