Lesson Plan in English 10

First Quarter

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES/TARGETS NOTES / REMARKS

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. I can define a circle and identify terms related to it
( radius, diameter, chord, secant, tangent, interior,
exterior central angle, minor arc, and major arc.)
b. I can state and apply the properties of a line tangent to a
circle in solving problems
c. I can use properties of special segments ( chords, secants,
tangents ) to solve problems
d. I can apply properties involving relationships between
arcs, central angles, chords, and inscribed angles in
solving problems
e. I can identify prior knowledge needed in performing
different tasks.

II. LEARNING CONTENT

a. Subject Matter : The Circle and its Auxiliary Parts

b. Dates Covered: July 15-19, 2019
c. References: Math for Engaged Learning by Lim, Nocon
et.al. pp. 163 - 176
d. Materials: compass, ruler, pen and notebook
e. Values Promoted:

III. LEARNING PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary Activities
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of attendance and cleanliness of the
classroom

B. Lesson Proper
a. Introduction
 Activating Prior Knowledge

Begin with a recall on what the students already

know about circles. In order to explore the basic
concepts concerning circles, the following guide
questions may be used to extract from the
students the definition of a circle and identify its
auxiliary parts.
Ask: How will you describe a circle? How do you know whether a
point is part of a given circle ?

( At this point the students are expected to locate he

center of the circle, and it is a fixed point.)

b. Interaction

Discussion

1. Introduce the auxiliary parts of the circle - center,

radius, diameter, chord, tangent line, secant line, by
giving them illustrative examples.
2.Discuss central angles and its postulate.

3. Define and illustrate arc, central angle, minor and

major arcs, semicircle, degree measure of arcs,
congruent circles, and congruent arcs.
c. Integration
Reflection:

Having God as the center of your life is offering

everything for His greater glory.
Ask yourself the following questions :

1. How does geometry of circle can be likened to your life ?

2. Why must one have a center in his/her life ?
3. What things do you consider to be in your circle? What
things must be circumferential in your life ?

IV. EVALUATION

A quiz will be given.

V. AGREEMENT

1. Study inscribed angle and intercepted arc.

2. How are inscribed angles related to the arcs they form ?
