MACCAFERRI CBR Test Results of Subgrade To calculate the improvement in CBR by incorporation of Geosynthetics, i.e. Geotextle and Geogrid, Plate Load Test was conducted on site. Following are the cbservations and analysis interpreted from the test- Toad{in kN) | Deflection (Dial Gauge 1) | Deflection (Dial Gauge 2) (in. | Deflection (Dial Gauge 3) (in — ___{inmm) mm) _____mm) 62 076 os7 [ 111 [- 372 {— 2a 280 ee) | — | 1.35 1.83 2.09 K. = Modulus of subgrade reaction = 0.07/ Average Deflaction (kPalcm) as per IS Average deflection = 1.756 mm or 0.1786 om K:= 0.0710.175 = 0.398 Mpalcm or 398 kPa/em To calculate the modulus value of in situ soil reinforced with geosyntheties ie. Geogrid and geotextile, the following formula has been used- (Reference: Joumal of Civil Enginaering Research 2012, 2(1): 34-40 DOI 10 5923/,jce.20120201.05) where: E =Modulus of Elasticity y= Poisson's ratio A. =area of the plate or CBR plunger and, E = 751 CBR ‘Substituting the values in the above formula, the modulus value and CBR has been calculated as given below E = (908 x (1- 0.52) x VIG 14 x 37.52)/1.13 E = 17,553 kPa E=CBRx75t CBR = 23.37 %
