grades nine and ten were taught. In 1927 the high school moved to the eight-room
Inglewood building. In 1933 the first Junior-Senior high school in West Vancouver was
formed with Mr. J. R Marshall as principal. In order to ease the crowded condition caused by
adding the junior high grades to the school, a two-room annex on the Pauline Johnson
school grounds was dragged up Inglewood Avenue to become part of the Inglewood school. Questions?
But there was still a shortage of space, so in 1934 the senior high school grades were Lynda Burrough 604-828-3370
moved back to Hollyburn Elementary School. Grades seven, eight and nine stayed on in Chris Tyrell 604-872-1954
Inglewood as a junior high school under Mr. J Condon as principal. In 1936, six rooms were LyndaB@hamiltonspill.com
added to the main building and two to the annex. The senior grades returned from Hollyburn, ctyrell@shaw.ca
and the school became a junior-senior high school again. In 1946, the school got its first
female principal, Miss E. Maycock, and in the same year, four army huts were moved to the
school from the abandoned army camp at Ambleside Park. In 1948, the east annex was built
to house Home Economics and Industrial Arts classrooms. In 1952 James Inkster took over
as principal and in 1952 the main unit of the Mathers Building was opened to house senior
classes. Mr. Isador Pelman became principal of the Inglewood Building. In 1956, a west wing
was added to the Mathers building and the junior and senior schools became mutually
exclusive. In 1962, as a result of the Chant Report, grades eight and nine were again merged
into the one Secondary School with Mr. Rod MacKenzie succeeding Mr. Inkster as principal.
