 Important Information
Dismissal
Students will be dismissed at the main entrance.
Children who are not picked up by 3:35 p.m. will be
free to go, unless otherwise specified by the parent.
You can request to have your child wait outside of the
Main Office. Please provide an e-mail or note if you
will be allowing your child to leave with another
student.
Tardies & Early Dismissals
Class starts at 8:30 a.m. Students will be marked tardy
if they do not report to class by 8:35 a.m.
A written note is required the morning of an early
dismissal, as we might not have an opportunity to
check our emails until the end of the day.
Transitioning Classes
Students will be transitioning to three different
classrooms each day. They will not keep personal
items in their desks unless specified by their
teacher(s).
Anti-Bullying Day
Wednesday’s are anti-bullying, socio-emotional
learning days. Students may be out-of-uniform if they
wear purple shirts.
Nut & Candy Free School
South Loop Elementary School is a gum,
candy, and nut free school.
We have students, and specifically fourth grade
students with severe nut allergies. In order to ensure
the safety of all of our children, please do not send
peanut products to school.

Afternoon Snacks
Please send healthy snacks daily (i.e.
Sunchips, Cheez-It crackers, Triscuits,
pre-cut fresh fruit or vegetable,
Skinny Pop, Fruit Roll Up).
Flamin’ Hot chips & Takis are not
allowed in school.
Homework
Each teacher will distribute
homework every Friday and it will be
due the following Friday. For each
day that homework is late, there will
be a 10% deduction. Work will not be
accepted more than two days late. It
will be a score of zero.
Classwork
For each day that a class assignment
is late, there will be a 10% deduction.

Grades
Gradebook will be updated weekly.
You are responsible for checking
your child's grades. Please watch for
missing assignments and encourage
your child to turn it in if it's not
overdue.
Grading Scale
A = 90% - 100%
B = 89% - 80%
C = 79% - 70%
D = 69% - 60%
F = 59% - Below
 Behavior Policy
Students will be receiving positive and negative points on Class Dojo. Based on the amount of
points they receive, there will be rewards and consequences. Please sign up for Class Dojo to
check on your child’s behavior and to receive messages from us. You will be receiving
instructions on how to sign up soon.

School Fee
Please pay the $75 school fee before October 1st. You can pay online at

School Uniform
Students must wear navy blue pants/skirts (no jeans) and solid white shirts or any South Loop
spirit wear shirt. Sweaters, jackets, and sweatshirts can only be solid white or navy blue.

Students must wear gym uniform and gym shoes on gym days. Gym uniform includes: solid
grey t-shirt or sweatshirt and solid navy blue shorts
or jogging pants. They are available for purchase on southloopshop.com

Open-toe shoes and spaghetti straps are not allowed.

Communication
The best way to contact us is through email. Please allow 24 business hours for a reply. If you
would like to leave us a message that needs immediate attention then we recommend writing a
paper note and have your child hand it to us. You may also leave us a phone message with the
clerk, but we will not receive that message, nor be able to return it, until the end of the day
(schedule allowing).

If you need to schedule a conference with us, please give us 24 hours notice in writing, and we
will confirm the date as soon as possible.
