Title: APHT024_How To Enable Backlash Control
Equipment: A-Series plus, A320i
Summary

This document provides instructions on how to enable the Backlash control for A-Series plus and A320i
printers. Backlash control will allow for a printer to stop printing when product or conveyor moves in the
opposite direction preventing double and overlapping print. The printer will count the encoder pulses
when the product travels in the opposite direction of printing. When the product travels in the correct
direction, the printer will count down the pulse and begin printing when the value returns to zero.

Description

Enable Backlash control by pressing the arrow keys. Determine the normal direction of rotation of the
encoder viewed as you look directly at the shaft.

Set the Direction as follows:

Forward – counter clockwise rotation

Reverse – clockwise rotation

Testing

Rotate the encoder in the normal direction required and observe the Encoder Pulse Count value
changes and the Count value stays zero.

Reverse the direction of encoder and observe that the Count value increases. The value should
decrease and reach zero when the encoder directions reverses to the correct direction.

The printer will print only in one direction.

Pressing Reset Backlash Count will set the Count value to zero. This can be used to start printing in
the normal direction immediately and not wait for the Count value to count down.
