Job Description

A job description is a written statement that describes the employee’s role and responsibilities. The role and responsibilities
shall be executed within the NRC framework. The job description facilitates the recruitment process by stating the necessary
competencies. It is mandatory for all positions.

Position: Access & Partnership Officer


Reports to: Access and Partnership Advisor
Supervision of: N/A
Duty station: Country office – Erbil
Travel: 50% frequent visits to NRC field operations
Project number: IQFX0000
Duration and type of contract: 12 months

1. Role and responsibilities


The purpose of the officer position is to provide support the Access and Partnership department for
the day-to-day implementation of access strategies in NRC’s Iraq.

Generic responsibilities
1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
2. Implement delegated access and partnership project portfolio according to plan of action.
3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
4. Ensure proper filing of documents.
5. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better
ways to assist.
6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.

Specific responsibilities
 Map and assess potential implementing partners in areas of operation
 Develop new partnerships with various stakeholders, including local NGOs, authorities, etc.
 Monitor implementation of existing and future partnerships and provide necessary support to
Area Officers and Program Department for successful implementation through partnerships
 Support with date collection for various assessments and different stakeholders
 Support data analysis and report writing based on findings of assessments
 Support with data analysis through reviewing contextual updates, media sources, and external
sources; triangulate with information received internally through assessments and tracking
completed at Area Office level
 Support in maintaining staff and visitors database for access facilitation letters

Critical interfaces
By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units
or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:
 Program Department for development of partnerships based on program strategy
 Area Managers for development of contacts with various stakeholders at different levels
Security Department for continued close coordination

 Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
 Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
 Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

 In depth knowledge of context in Iraq across various governorates
 Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders at various levels
 Sensitivity in dealing with beneficiaries and ability to build trust
 Able to synthesize various sources of information

These are personal qualities that influence how successful people are in their job. NRC’s Competency
