Robbery at IFace, Paranaque

DATE : July 08, 2019

1. Reference:

a. Verbal referral from Mr. Dionefel M. Morante and Mr. Rannie T. Toca to conduct initial
Investigation and gather information on an incident on the discovery of robbery inside the
admin office at Iface, Paranaque City.

2. Facts of the Case:

b. This pertains to the report by Shields Security guards SG Jose Cardante and SG Luis Tolentino
that a robbery has transpired possibly in the early morning of July 8, 2019 and was
discovered by SG Tolentino on or about 0600H on his first round of inspection at the said
warehouse.

3. Objectives of the Investigation:

c. Determine the veracity of the report.

d. Determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
e. Determine the identity of the possible perpetrators.
f. Determine if there were lapses on the part of security personnel assigned thereto.
g. Recommend pre-emptive measures to prevent recurrence of the same incident in the
future.

4. Findings:

h. There are four (4) security personnel that perform 24/7 duty from 0600H to 1800H and vice
versa. Two (2) guards are posted during the day shift and the other two (2) at night shifts.
1. SG Jose Cardante - Dayshift
2. SG Luis Tolentino - Dayshift
3. SG Emil Tonog - Night Shift
4. SG Lemuel Maloto - Night Shift
i. That SG Jose Cardante was assigned and posted at the main gate area while SG Luis
Tolentino was assigned at the warehouse. And at around 0600H SG Tolentino conducted his
first round of inspection around the warehouse and have noticed some unusual occurrences.
A chair was seen below the CCTV camera with a footprint covered with mud, small debris of
wood with white paint that came from the wooden door of the office which further reveal
that it was forcibly open.

j. Furthermore, inside the office was discovered to have some drawers open and things inside
the room are disarray which proves that someone was probably looking for something.

k. After the discovery of the incident SG Cardante reported it (sent messages) immediately to
Ms. Novel Ice Bayot, Warehouse Manager and Ms. Jennifer Joy Maling. The incident was also
reported to Mr. Rannie Toca, Operation Manager of Soliman Security Services, Inc.

l. That on or about 1000H of the same date with the instruction by Mr. Dionefel M. Morante to
conduct initial investigation of the incident. And with that together with Insp. Christian
Vargas proceeded at the scene of the incident. Upon our arrival at IFace warehouse located
at # 4074 Gardenia St., Barangay SunValley, Paranaque City the Paranaque PNP Investigator
were already at the scene of the incident to gather information and evidences that will lead
to the identity of the culprits. The following PNP Officers on the scene were Police Lt. Rapiz,
Police Lt. Fernando and Police Cpl. Torres.

m. The PNP Officers and IFace Warehouse Manager Ms. Novel Ice Bayot reviewed and playback
CCTV footages to seek evidence/s to identify the culprits and to determine the possible time
of the incident.

n. That during the search on the CCTV footages at around 0200H there was an identified
suspect who were seen moving at the site of the incident and was seen coming in and out of
the warehouse. That although the lights inside the warehouse were off, in can be visibly
observed that the person who went inside the admin office was already familiar within the
area. The suspect came in easily thru a portion of the facility and was seen wearing a cover
on his face, but the suspect’s movement was observed to be familiar within the facility
proving to be an employee or former employee of the company. It was almost about 20
minutes that the suspect was within the area to accomplished his criminal act.
.
o. The footprint that was discovered on the chair just above the CCTV camera has proven that
the culprit used it to reach for the camera to move to another direction, which only shows
that he was familiar within the area.

p. Although there were only circumstantial evidences proving the guilt of the suspect/s, the
Paranaque police and IFace management are determined to look deeper into the true
identity of the culprit and file a case against the suspect and accomplices.

q. Initial information reported that it was around 100,00.00 Php. were missing, but still it was
not yet officially declared until final inventory were done.
5. Discussion:

r. With the results on the CCTV footages that was reviewed it was clear that the culprit was an
employee or former employee of the company and that this was considered to be an inside
job. The suspect could not also do the criminal act alone and could have accomplices.

s. With the footages in hand it could help the investigator further seek the identity of the
perpetrator/s

6. Conclusion:

t. In the light of the foregoing, it can be concluded that the crime committed was an inside job
and possibly done by any of the company employee/s who has an access in the area and has
the knowledge or information about their company. The suspects/s knows that there are
cash/money that could be found in the said room or drawer.

u. Anybody in the company or an employee could be a suspect but to determine his identity is
another thing, with the help of the management and further gathering of information the
suspect/s could be shortlisted.

v. Investigators by way of interviews and interrogations may find other information’s, clues and
evidences that could pursue the case and can determine and lead to the real identity of the
suspect/s and accomplices.

7. Recommendation

w. In view thereof, the following are hereby recommended

 Relocation of CCTV monitor away from the employee’s entrance and should not
be accessible to any employees.
 Restriction of employees to other areas of the company.
 Implementation of the confidentiality and accessibility within the company.
 Use of Vaults for cash storage and only to a limited amount
 Security personnel must be always on the alert and have to conduct regular
patrolling inside the warehouse.
