STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR VACUUM PUMP


OBJECTIVE: For Smooth Operation of Vacuum pump.

SCOPE: This SOP is applicable for 48 nos. of Vacuum Pumps.

INTRODUCTION: Vacuum pump is needed to evacuate fly ash from ESP & APH hopper to buffer hopper.
It required 04 pumps operation & 04 no’s pump stand by for 01 unit.

PRE CHECKS:

4 Second seal water pump is in standby condition.

1 The vacuum pump shut down only after ash evacuation is completed or it
required stopping evacuation of ash from hopper.
2 Release the interlock of standby vacuum pump.

3 Stop the vacuum pump & closed vacuum header inlet, outlet valve.

4 Closed seal water line valve.

5 Stop seal water pump after all vacuum pumps is stopped.

6 Rectify the probable, if any.

2. TRIPPING OF VACUUM PUMP :If suddenly trips

1 If the running pump is tripped the standby pump should be pickup.


2 If the other pump does not start in auto, try to start it from local.

3. EMERGENCY SHUT DOWN:


1 There is the apparent abnormal noise after starting the pump or during in
operation.
2 When endangering the safety of person and equipment.

2. Ensure that Seal Water Pump is running with adequate pressure & flow before starting the Pump.

3. Ensure Suction Valve/Vacuum Breaker/Dust Detector is working properly before starting of Pump.

4. Ensure that Vacuum Transmitter & Vacuum Gauge is working before starting/during running of Pump.

DONT’s :

1. Don’t run the Pump if Ash is coming out with sealing water outlet.

2. Don’t run the Pump if Motor winding temperature is continuously high.

3. Don’t run the Pump if Motor draws high current continuously.

4. Don’t start/stop the Pump frequently.
