(with smile) Good Morning All, my name is Sheena Rana. I am B.COM (hons) graduate from
Daulat ram College, University of Delhi with 22 months of work experience in the auditing
sector. I had worked as an audit associate with EY GDS which acts an extended team to various
onshore regional teams of EY.

keen interest in learning new cooking recipes. Moreover, likes to watch various videos related to
history and sightseeing on YouTube. Other interests include hobbies and Sudoku solving.

Do you use Paytm? What is the impact of digitization of payment methods.

Since you have worked in EY, and I guess EY sponsors CPA and ACCA as higher education
degrees, then why instead of doing the same while working, you want to pursue MBA
(Financial mgt)?

You have the opportunity cost of leaving a job and then joining MBA

Answer:

Yes Mam, you are very much correct, EY do sponsors ACCA and CPA as the professional courses
while you are working and definitely both the degrees are very good for making career in
Auditing. But I have set inclination for management as a career objective. Whereas before doing
any management degree I want to first see and learn the corporate life/ EY has not only taught
my significance of financial statements, what are the respective of frauds which needs to be
identified as an auditor but also various soft skills like team working, time management.
Working in a team of more than 100 people, working on clients with strict deadlines – these all
things have given me an at least starting exposure to corporate life and now with this exposure,
I want to start my MBA so that enter the Management world. And why specifically MBA FM
because in some sense academic knowledge of B.COM hons and work experience of EY provides
some basis to study the same.

Interview went on for around 15 minutes. Most of the interview was occupied by work exp and
accounting questions.

Why MBA after Engineering? Why in Finance?

The role of an engineer is changing. For an engineer to go up in his career he has to take mantle
of a manager . Industry needs professionals who can contribute to the company with their skills
set and ideas. Having come from my engineering background , there are several skills such as
problem solving that I have gained over years . In fact I feel that engineering was a journey that
taught me many skills and life lessons . And Why Finance ? It was in my third year that I started
getting interest in economy and Indian Financial system . I was particularly interested in the
business news , how the business was carried out and factors affecting various sectors . Also doing
MBA in Finance from DFS would help me gain the necessary knowledge as well as the exposure
required for the corporate world. Technical questions / personal questions

Why MBA in Finance ?

Management is an art that requires practical experience along with the theoretical knowledge. I
have been inclined towards finance when I worked as an intern at a research lab where we also
used to see and maintain accounts of funds that were available for different projects. Moreover,
while working as an engineer, I was quite fascinated by how budget allocation was done for
each department at the starting of each year and wanted to learn the Fundamentals of the
finance world. After getting equipped with the required know how of finance from DFS, I would
focus on gaining practical exposure in the field.

• Education: B.Sc Mathematics , Hansraj College , University of Delhi
• M.Sc Mathematics and Computing , Indian Institute of Technology , Guwahati Fresher

Tell me something about yourself

My name is Syed Faisal Hasan. I did my graduation in Mathematics from Hans Raj College,
University of Delhi. Post that, I did my MSc in Mathematics and Computing form IIT Guwahati. I
like to read books and watch movies. These hobbies keep me motivated. MBA has always been
my dream because not only it teaches us to survive and excel in the corporate world but also
helps us to enhance our skills, enrich our learning’s and inculcate values of leadership which are
vital towards achieving success in life.

Why MBA in Finance?

It was my MSc in Mathematics and Computing in IIT Guwahati that introduced me to the world
of Finance. I did a course in Mathematics of Finance which influenced me to pursue my Project
work In Finance on a topic Brownian motion. As my short term goal was to enter into the
corporate world and as I had a little exposure in Finance previously, MBA (Finance) was the best
option for me to strive towards my goals. My experience in Mathematics coupled with MBA
(Finance) would help me achieve my long term goal of applying the immense knowledge and
practicality, which I would have gained in the Corporate, in Research and Development so that I
could find ways that will help drive the Industry towards sustainability.

You could have gone for your PhD i.e. academic side instead of going MBA and coming
for corporate world. Any particular reason for that?
I want to first gain corporate exposure in the field of Finance and then go for the academic side. I
find this better as corporate exposure would give me an insight on the practical side of the
classroom learning. This would help me in bridging the gap between academic as well as
practices in industry. Though academic side is definitely in my mind, I prefer going into the
industry first.
