Red Rose
The official flower of the Society is the red rose. It is used in all ceremonies and for
special occasions. Each member is given a red rose upon her initiation.
Purchase of the key is required of all members. It is the emblem of membership and may
be obtained only on the authority of the key care. If a member loses her key, she applies to
the president of her own chapter or to the Headquarters for another key permit card. The
member sends this with check of money order to International Headquarters, P.O. Box
1589, Austin, TX 78767-1589. Key permit cards may be obtained from International
Headquarters in Austin, TX.
The key may be pinned on a suit coat when it substitutes for a dress. It shall be worn at all
chapter meetings, and may be worn at other times. The member will avoid using the Delta
Kappa Gamma Key on a lapel, or bracelet, or in any utilitarian manner, such as fastening a
collar or pocket flap.
When a member resigns or is dropped, she should surrender the key to the chapter. If she
does not, she is expected to refrain from wearing it. The chapter may buy the pin from her.
It may be sold to a Delta Kappa Gamma member who has lost hers. Each chapter may
decide what disposition is to be made of keys of deceased members returned to the
chapter. Reclaimed keys are not sold to person being inducted as active members. If the
chapter policies on the disposition of keys are familiar to all members, embarrasing
situations may be avoided.

Create tomorrow! Make a choice!
Create tomorrow! Raise your voice!
The challenge for our future lies in what we choose today.
