Welcome to Dr. Probe Kindergarten

Welcome to Dr. Gerald B. Probe Kindergarten! We are so happy to be working with
your child this year. Our Kinder Kids have been busy exploring the classroom and
are on their way discovering new things and making new friends. We are looking
forward to getting to know you and your child.

Educational Assistants: Mrs. Dorita Friesen (Mrs. Dorita), Mrs. Shannon Johnson
(Mrs. Shannon), Mrs. Elanor VanDasselaar (Mrs. Elly) and -PM only- Mrs. Elisha
Mckinnon (Mrs. Elisha)
We are called: Learning Group 10 (LG10)-because we are located in Room 10
AM CLASS: 21 students - 10 Girls and 11 Boys
PM CLASS: 22 students - 15 Girls and 7 Boys

Just a reminder that Kindergarten times are as follows:

AM Program 8:18 am – 11:30 am (Monday - Thursday)
PM Program 12:10 pm – 3:22 pm (Monday - Thursday)
Snack Time
Each child brings his/her own, small, portable healthy snack each day. It
is very important that children have just one or two small snacks as we only have
about 10-15 minutes for eating time. Please send a re-useable water bottle each
day.
Also, due to allergies, we request that you DO NOT BRING SNACK ITEMS THAT
CONTAIN PEANUTS, NUTS AND NUT OILS.
We like to celebrate birthdays in kindergarten! On your child’s birthday you can
bring a SMALL HEALTHY snack for everyone in the class to enjoy together.
Leader of the Day
Please note the Kindergarten Sharing Calendar for the month of September
(accompanying this newsletter). These special sharing days will always be
scheduled on or near your child’s birthday. For those kindergarten students with
birthdays in the summer, we will be celebrating their birthdays in June instead.
The newsletter for each month and the Leader Schedule will be available on our
class website. I will send a Remind message when each month is available online.
If there is a certain day that does not work for you, or a day you would prefer,
please contact me and I will do my best to accommodate your schedule. Please
let me know this when I send a Remind message near the middle to the end on
the previous month.

Leader of the Day Sharing Projects

On your child’s leader days, he/ she will be asked to participate in sharing
projects. Your conversations with your child at home are an integral part of the
learning involved in these projects. More information about these projects will be
shared with you each month. This month’s leader sharing is all about your child’s
name. Please see the information sheet provided to you on your child’s pop-in day
for more information.
As well as these special Leader of the Day activities, we ask that on your child’s
special day you make arrangements for a parent or someone special to come into
school with your child for the morning or afternoon, if possible. It is such an
important time for you to see your child’s development and it creates a wonderful
opportunity for our teachers to get to know you as well. We are partners in your
child’s learning and look forward to working with you this school year.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures –
DROP OFF=Bootroom PICK UP=Classroom door
Beginning September 9, all Kindergarten students should line up just outside of
the North-West Boot Room Door, where we will greet them. The classes will then
enter the school together where the children will exchange their shoes.
To help your child become more independent and confident at school,
please encourage her or him to walk into the school on their own with
the class.
(Don’t’ worry, we’ll help out….. we know it will all be okay! )
A hug, a kiss & a quick good bye at the boot room door is really the best way to start
the day!

Inside Shoes –

This is just a reminder that your child will need “inside shoes” that will remain at
school. Our caretakers work hard to keep our school clean and it’s important that
we change into our “inside shoes” when we come into the school.

Let’s work together to have our Kinder Kids confidently put on their own shoes! It
makes recess time much more fun when your child can quickly put on his/her own
shoes!

It also creates confidence in our little people too!

At dismissal time, we ask that you wait outside of your student’s

classroom door and we will dismiss your child once we see that you
are here. As the year goes on we will begin to dismiss to outside, but we will
keep you posted on this.
Please arrive promptly at dismissal times. Children who are not picked
up on time will be taken to the office to wait for their ride to arrive.
School Fees – School Cash Online
If you haven’t already done so, please set up an account with School Cash Online
https://lethbridge.schoolcashonline.com to pay your $15.00 Memory Book fee.
This year we will not be accepting any cash payments at the school office.
Also, please get your completed paperwork in as soon as you can.
Lastly, if you have not brought your school supplies in, please do so as soon as
possible. Thank you!
Book Orders
Each month I will send home a Scholastic Book Order, where you and your child
can choose to order books for your home collection. These book orders help to
build our classroom library as points collect towards the purchase of classroom
books. However, there is no obligation for you to make a purchase. There will be a
due date for all forms written on each monthly calendar as well as posted in the
weekly update (through our class website).
If you are ordering something as a gift, please indicate with a note, attached to
the order that you are planning to keep it as a surprise and I will make sure your
child does not see the items purchased!
Also, please register and pay online through Scholastic.ca. Thank you!
Happy Reading!
Lastly
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at the
school 403-381-3103, send me an email at: ashley.fujikawa@lethsd.ab.ca, or preferably
send me a Remind message.

I am always available to talk at school, however I would prefer if we set up a time,

rather than talking first thing when students are coming in or at the end of school
when I am busy setting up for the next class. I really appreciate your
consideration and would love to make time when my attention is fully on you and
your concern. Thank you 
