‘SPECK PUMPEN SIDE CHANNEL PUMP ~ MODEL ASK
STARTING INSTRUCTION
CHECK THE FOLLWING BEFORE YOU START THE PUMP.
DIRTY PIPELINE (WELD SCALING)
To avoid potential damage to the pump when being used for the first time or after work carried out
on line system on the suction side a dust trap (wire mesh is to be fitted in front of the suction line
connection for a period of 15-20 working days. In any event the pipeline should be carefully
cleaned after welding work has been carried out.
If despite all of these precautions the pump still becomes contaminated, it must be cleaned
‘mechanically and then sprayed with a water jet.
WELDING SLAGS
Please ensure welding slags do not drop into the pump inlet during welding process,
NEVER START THE PUMP DRY
You must fill the pump with the process liquid to the middle of the shaft before switching it on
PUMP JAMS
Due to corrosion between the rotor and stage casing or housing, please disengage the pumps halve
coupling by removing the bolts. To use a long wrench (Approx. 4-5 feet) to engage on the halve
coupling and turn the pump shaft.
PIPING
All piping must have its own support. The pump is not designed to carry weights. Pipes must not be
Pulled into position with bolts causing strain on the casing. Suction pipe must be absolutely air
tight.
DIRECTION OF ROTATION (ANTI-CLOCKWISE FROM DRIVE END)
Switch off the motor immediately on starting since a few rotations are sufficient for checking if the
direction is correct. One should disengage the pump's halve coupling by removing the coupling
bolts for the purpose of checking direction and for pulley drive units, loosen or disengage the v-
belts before carrying out this test
