for today, let us have first a recap of our past
lesson. Who can still remember the elements of
a short story that we discussed yesterday?”
“Yes, Kate.” Kate: “The elements of a short story are
character, setting, conflict, plot and theme.”

“Very good.”

B.Motivation

“Now, let us have a short activity. So

I’m going to divide you into two groups and
each group will be given a basket wherein it
contains letters. All you have to do is to arrange
the letters so you can create a particular word.
Are you ready?” “Yes, teacher.”

“Count one, two and go to your group.” (Grouping themselves)

“I will only give you one (1) minute to

create the word. Your time start now.” (Doing their activity)

“Yes, Aaron.” AARON: “I have learned that fact is a true

statement and it can be proven while opinion is
a feeling or belief and it can’t be proven.”

“Precisely! The video presentation tells

that fact is something which can be verified
with evidences and is provable, observable and
measurable. Those are statements that can be
proven by reliable authority or information
such as based on scientific la and history book.
For example, Ferdinand Marcos is the former
president of the Philippines.”

“Why do you think it’s a fact?”

“Yes, Sophia.”
SOPHIA: “Because it is based in history
“Very good! This is a fact because it is book and provable.”
provable by history.”

“On the other hand, opinion is

something which can’t be proven, and they are
based on someone’s thoughts, feelings, and
understanding. For example, President Duterte
is the best president.”

“Do you agree?”

“Yes/No, teacher.”
“Even if everyone agreed with this
example, it is still an opinion because it is not
provable. Understand?”
“Yes, teacher.”
“In addition, there are certain words that
will warn you that you are being given an
opinion statement and not a fact. Some of those
are: maybe, think, many, seldom, best, worst,
feel, good, pretty, favourite, should, perhaps,
probably, apparently and the like.

“I have here more examples of fact and

opinion. Can you please read it.”
